Yeah Msa have an of road list but rallying you should be on fia list tyres supposedly.
What I run and @massivewangers hankooks aren’t on the list. People still use 10 year old Dunlop’s that don’t appear on any list either
I don’t think anyone can explain the rally tyre rule. Only thing you...
Not really such thing as bluebook list with rallying. Tyres are meant to be fia list but that’s only the modern wrc stuff. Can use Msa list tyres but none of them will be any good for rallying
Yeah the Z209s are the better on the hankook slicks. I’ve never tried the wets but I’ve heard they’re good too.
I did toy with the idea of buying some Michelin’s for Blyton as I want to see if I can get close to a class win there but at £270 a tyre I couldn’t see the point. Even though they’re...
The old style ones that I’ve got are the worst tyre I’ve ever had which are the Chinese ones. The wrc ones are made by Avon. JD tyres said these ones are pretty good. If I don’t get on with them I’m sure I’ll be able to sell them for what I paid for them anyway. Only paid £70 a tyre. They’re...
New front set of pbs pads in today. The rears have still got a bit of life so will change then after the next rally. I got some stickers and a t shirt off them but still no sponsorship, Even though both cars run they’re pads.
Bedded them in tonight. They feel even better than the other set...
Sounds like the same issue as mine.
A few people said it’s the motor on the column but my was the epas ecu. Changed that for a different one and so far so good
What I don’t get is it’s only the uk that uses the CC....anything goes, class system. No one else uses that. Yes they have classes split by CC but the regulations are so much tighter than over here.
The thing is a well sorted Clio can and will beat the escorts, but there’s no competition for...
It’s not because there is a dislike for a Clio in rallying. It’s because of the uk class system with it being a 2.0. I’m in a Clio Facebook chat with around 25 lads who rally clios. And I know another 6 more lads who are not in it. Imagine how popular they’d be if they did a 2.0 fwd class.
On Facebook one one of the french Clio rally pages. They’re used not new. But optimism access would be able to get new. They can supply everything Clio N3
We’ll do one once the suspension is back from cornering force in a couple of weeks.
See I’ve never really liked the Clio. Just fell into the first shell I bought because it was cheap and been there ever since. I did have a ep3 myself when I was 21 and loved it.
It’s a hard one for what’s...
Yeah it was on Facebook for sale. Surprised it didn’t sell straight away actually. The front proflex need servicing though.
Not sure on weight but I don’t think it weighs that much more than the Clio. Seems to pull very well though. Haven’t had the chance yet to have a little drag race
And my brother has bought a new car
Civic Type R
225bhp
Hondata ecu
Kaaz diff with low final drive
3 way proflex all round ???
Which came second in the group N Northern Ireland rally championship last year
Hopefully settle the Civic vs Clio debate
I know I did speak to him briefly yesterday. I’ll keep him in mind but was after someone with experience as you know my brothers doing it in the new car ? I have to beat him
I’ve sorted the epas issue out with a different control box. I did 20 road miles with the new box and it was faultless
On the test drive though I blew the fuse that controls the dash lights and rear left tail light. I found the wiring for this pretty much burnt out. The plastic coating has...
I went out in it last night with the new ecu. It worked perfectly, I’ll get a spare motor just incase. But I blew the relay that controls the dash lights and rear sidelights some how
Cars still on the trailer but tried a different ecu and it seems ok. But if I set the adjuster to no assistance i have to move the wheel left and right a few times for the assistance to stop.
I’ll get it off the trailer later and take it up the road.
Hopefully it’s sorted it.
Hi
Recently fitted an epas column, eBay controller and quick rack.
Everything is wired up to how the instructions state.
When I turned the car on the epas worked but the resistance adjuster there was either no assistance or full assistance.
Seeing as I’ve never drive a Clio with this...
It was hard to tell because the track was so greasy. I was spinning the wheels up quite a lot on the slower corners even on new tyres. I’ve took it down a dry industrial estate and put it round a few roundabouts and it feels perfect though. Just need to find out what’s wrong with the epas...
Fun day yesterday on the rally track day.
I have a strange intermittent electrical issue though. Something was drawing power. So I’d have a misfire and epas would stop working. If the car has been sitting in the queue for the stage the first 10 seconds of the stage it would misfire like hell...
