Off to a bad start today, lost my microphone already - properly gutted! Passed the noise test though so that's good news, just hoping I don't get black flagged throughout the day for the ITB's being too loud. Fingers crossed...
I wanted to put the mic above the exhaust, but as you can see it's absolutely soaking outside! Might get chance tomorrow, we'll see.
Radiator runs much much cooler than the old one which is excellent. Coolant re-route to the back of the block is probably next on the cards.
Semi-productive day, Managed to get the big ass radiator fitted.
And also fitted a VDO water temp gauge. Looks completely OEM thanks to the green illumination. Just running out of air vents now! lol
Got a microphone for my GoPro, threw that in the engine bay:
Bring on Oulton tomorrrow!
What a day!
Traffic on the way to EFi was horrendous thanks to countless roadworks (actually it was a lane closure due to gardening. Mental.) So I was a little bit late, but nevertheless Chris did an absolutely fantastic job; my map was not the best, ignition timing was frankly silly, and the...
It's slightly quicker than a MK1 on Itb's with a terrible map and a hole in the exhaust. Slightly.
In fact I don't recall there being any difference in performance at all TBH.
As soon as Waitey buys this I'll be straight out to get a MK3! Shame I know he likes to pay less than no money for his cars lol!!
It still needs some rust treatment, but it's getting slightly posh. For me at least...
Another small little update, managed to sort the throttle cable out. I think I need a spring on the other side of the throttle pulley, that way I can have the cable properly taught. It does feel much better now though.
And this arrived today, silly quick delivery from Fast5.co.uk - highly...
mmmmkay..
Mid-week update time.
I got a bit desperate and went to MX5 parts for a manifold. Not the best made thing in the world, but it meant that I could get it all sorted and then just forget about it. It also means I have a full I.L. Motorsports exhaust from the head back. Nice. I think...
He picked it up on Friday morning from Essex, drove it straight to BBR and then home. Nutter.
It's weird, I still come on loads but I just read! I've got a lot of cool stuff going on that isn't car related at the moment, and most of the stuff I actually want to contribute to is in OtherMarques...
ND is a 2.0 Sport Nav. Remapped by BBR less than 100 miles from picking it up, made 175bhp Lol! It's lovely, quick enough - but not going to set the world on fire, it is an MX5 after all isn't it!
Only thing we hated was how much body roll it has. It's kinda ridiculous how much rolling around it...
I've not had this car in my possession for about 6 weeks, it was quite something getting back behind the wheel! Yet, somehow, I'm falling out with it. Silly things are annoying me, and it's crap at any sort of semi-long distance driving. Doing Oulton Park at the end of this month, and I've a...
Tricky one as it's not worth anything really - added to the fact that you like to pay absolute peanuts for cars... I'd end up with a tenner and a box of teabags at best!
You'd hate it anyway, it's a pain in the arse sometimes - seems to need constant map adjustments and it's never fully happy...
Will do! Need to get a few of us there - @sofaboy has just ordered a MK4 so we'll be up there at some point. Also need to see Titch's green MX5 - not seen that one yet!
Aha, the ones at the bottom have been chopped so don't work - should see the speeds motorcyclists go up and down, makes me...
Thanks! Yeah, it's only a quick motorway drive to macclesfield so that's the road I've set it up for basically! Spent many an evening going up and down with the laptop on my passenger seat. IMO it's a better run than the Evo triangle, far more technical but nowhere near as long unfortunately.
Not quite sure I believe it myself, but I've just got back from the MOT. Passed first time, fully legit - full cat test too!
Think the tester was as shocked as I was as it sounded like launch control on fast idle. No written advisories, just mentioned the number plate was a bit small, front...
Well, it's about time I posted the obligatory throttle body pics. Gave it a quick wash and threw some wax and tyre shine on and headed to my new favourite picture destination. Also took a couple of crappy iphone videos with the hardtop on - crazy the amount of noise that enters the cabin with...
I think the Raybrigs are as good as you're going to get. Don't get square ones as they just don't fit. Not without work anyway. Raybrigs are a massive improvement over crappy standard units; team them with some decent bulbs and you're onto a winner.
That PPF brace is a no-go IMO. I ran it for a...
