You're right in calling it a stub axle and Hamerite will just flake off from experience around braking components, VHT takes a better bite too when prepped right. It will be fine on the shafts and such like but don't go painting the bearing face on the stub axle, its meant to be plane metal.
Your shaft looks dodgy too in the first video. You shouldn't see any of the splines on the driveshaft side where it goes into that coupler and the 'flower' clip doesn't look too hot either.
You can see it jumping on the gearbox side in your first video, the shaft is turning yet the output shaft in the box is only turning at times.
Common thing to happen on the older Meganes I'm told. Here's the repair for it. And if you don't already know.... Don't drive it.

Nothing that hasn't been documented in here mate, if anyone wants to call me about it then I will glad fully point out every bad point it has which ain't much at all..... That is more than half the general public will do when it comes to selling a car.
Yeah @Matt e as Gaz said, just south of Aberdeen AB39.
During the track day I done and under hard cornering the tyres had rubbed through the arch liners and I had lost the cover on one side.
I got a set of complete arch liners to replace them.
Old v new. I cleaned them with g101 and...
Bit of a bump on this, I'm putting the car up for sale tonight on here initially. I will write an advert tonight hopefully after I finish painting the engine cover and a few other little jobs on it.
PM if interested. As you can tell by this thread the car has wanted for nothing and will want...
Yes wheels will affect cooling but unless you fit something like this the difference will be negligible. Mintex 1144's aren't any better than a Brembo standard pad IME. Yellow stuff are infinitely better than ds2500 too and a fraction of the cost.
At best its a 9 year old car, its going to need new inner and outer track rods. Guaranteed you'll be surprised when you take off the inners or even if the garage keep them for you.
Don't worry that's a very usual feeling to have once you have done karting. You do wonder if your arms are even attached to the steering wheel initially.
On any cliosport of any age, what I do when I get them is to replace the inner and outer track rods and you'll have what feels like a new...
The price sounds okay but tyres range from £30 to £200 a pop.
You could get those wheels for £250 used probably and a set of rubber bands for £120. Its all respective.
Fraser has just mounted them on seat rails.
If you remove the standard tunnel stiffener's then you can bolt the sidemounts directly to the floor with some flat bar welded on to floor to strengthen it.
Jon on here with the martini coloured ph1 has done it although I can't find his thread.
I would agree, I bought two tins for my UR Meg at circa £32 for the pair of 330ml tins (which I thought was stingy anyway) and proceeded to paint my side strip as a tester. The colour was nothing like and I'm colour blind so find it hard to notice shades.
I only done done it off the back of...
Nice project, like it when everything's done at once. Have you got a link to the seats please, I have revolutions but I'm tempted to go for non winged seats so I can get them right back (I'm 6'2")
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
I don't know how a bad HG would affect the cylinder burn and especially in one cylinder although was there any water being used as you say it had light grey soot.
The difference between the old and new engine is that one had 6 dodgy cylinders and the new only has...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
No1 bore shiny?
From everything you have said and with your findings I would hazard a guess at cyl1 over fuelling, bore washing and things snowballing from there.
The damage was already done on the track day so you were never going to stop that misfire I would say...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
What's the actual problem?
That colouring on the piston (timing side) doesn't look right mate, I'm guessing its where the fuel mix is entering the cylinders but it appears a lot cleaner than the other 5 from that pics.
Cheers
Yuup very nice mate, I have looked at yours recently as inspiration to do my side strips red and its what I would do with the interior and wheels on mine if the car was a keeper. I say I'm getting rid but I keep doing more and more to it
Thats the nail in the coffin, I'm bored so...
