Jump Starting with a Race Battery?

Martin, if you are relocating your battery, you are likely to be using something like in the picture below. if you need to jump start the car, you can simply connect the live jump lead to these terminals, and the earth lead to any earth point in the engine bay.

    182 gearbox plug.

Wiring wise I'd say I am competent but going to that level I'd be a bit worried about getting it wrong, it could be a step to far for me. did you do it all yourself or contract someone in for the task. edit to add, what's the UCH? i keep seeing it being mentioned a lot.

    182 gearbox plug.

James, just thinking mate, have you found anything else that can be removed from the loom within the engine bay?

    182 gearbox plug.

    Cheers Mr James ;)

    182 gearbox plug.

Hey all. looking at the wiring loom plug on the side of the gearbox, is this purely forte reverse light indicator? if so, considering removing this part from the engine harness as my interior car loom has already had the reverse light wiring removed anyhow. cheers

    Removing ABS completely

I've had a bit of a search but all I seem to find is answers saying 'remove the fuse' and 'it won't pass an MOT' neither of these answers are suitable, the car won't ever be MOT'd and I do want to remove the complete ABS setup. I was just thinking, with the engine and box currently out of the...

    Trophy Track Car

I certainly follow how you mean Chip, its probably one of the lowest powered cars I've ever had as a track toy, its great on the twisties but I understand completely that an additional 30bhp won't change its straight line performance to an amazing level. i still feel there is a lot to be fine...

Buckets comfortable enough to do 250 mile journeys in with no stops

Exactly, this is why I asked if he has a real need for bucket seats.

    Clio big brake conversions?

That makes perfect sense, I wouldn't dream of putting anything less than a decent set of AP 6 pots on my old Escos. i think Rainbirds initial pet hate with Wilwoods was from many a year back when they had little centre bracing an you could actually see the caliper flexing.

Buckets comfortable enough to do 250 mile journeys in with no stops

Most comfy I had were my old OMP Pista Carbon Kevlar seats. i loved them but sold them on when I broke my Escos. the bimarcos I now have seem pretty comfy, but so far I haven't sat in them for longer than 15-20 minutes at a time.

Video doesn't work for me, it just states 'this video is private'

Buckets comfortable enough to do 250 mile journeys in with no stops

Why are you fitting buckets? is it just for the look you want, or do you actually do trackdays to warrant having them?

    Knock knock

Had it on the misses car about a year ago, jacked it up and went over everything just to make sure nothing was loose. the pinch bolt where the lower arm ball joint goes in to the hub wasn't quite tight, as I tried to tighten it I realised it wouldn't actually tighten up, as tho the thread was...

    Clio big brake conversions?

Wilwood 4 pots on mine aswell chip, as far as I am led to believe its the exact same kit as Lee's as he too me where to get them from for Kim's Black clio a couple of years back.

    Engine Dynamics.

Cheers for that offer Chip. i can easily pop it on the trailer and drop it off to you wherever you may be by then (if you are in your new house)

    Trophy Track Car

Hope all goes well at Combe then chip, and fingers crossed the brakes are sorted. im picking up a replacement engine mid week, so I'd imagine by the end of next weekend it should be back to where it was and usable again. at the prices I these engines, ill snap another up over the coming few...

    Rocker cover removal.

As above, the centre support is removed mate, along with the plate within it that seperates.
  21. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

I get what you mean, cheers both. Dan SJM, how the heck do you seperate the drivers driveshaft from the ggearbox? its out of the hub, its also go the centre support removed, but for the life of me I cannot get it out of the box.

    Rocker cover removal.

Manifold is removed from head and dropped back so its sat against the bulkhead. Its certainly clear from the engine. just seems that there is only an inch if I'm lucky between the pulleys and chassis rail, I didn't think the engine would be able to move over to one side enough to lift out...

    Rocker cover removal.

Dan, I assumed you were calling yourself a moron as it was one nasty task to do, and you were calling yourself that for trying it.
  24. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

That's handy. i was having trouble separating the drivers side driveshaft earlier so I assumed it may have been easier to leave the box in place. i really thought it would be an easy task, took longer to remove the loom, Exh manifold and all pipework than I used to be able to get a Cossie...
  25. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

Subframe off and drop it all completely then I assume, as I'm guessing the box and engine won't come out the top complete?
  26. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

Next one, and possibly a daft Q. is it atall possible to lift the engine out the top of the bay leaving the gearbox in situ?
  27. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

Jon, do you know what size Allen key it requires for the inlet camshaft? the exhaust camshaft appears to be an 18mm nut.
  28. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

Ah really, no way to hold the pulleys tight now as there is no cambelt anymore. i know its optimistic, but peering in the inlet and exhaust ports the valves seem to look straight, and I half hope the head may have survived. i know it probably hasn't, but I don't want to get too medievle with it...
  29. Kelv

    Rocker cover removal.

How the fook do you get the rocker cover off? all bolts are removed, it lifts about half an inch but won't go any further. even the camshaft a look free, and I'd say even the pulleys, they lift about half inch but its then as if it purely won't go any further. no bolts are missed, everything...
