Thanks Matt. It has been a pleasure dealing with Tour-De-Force and i look forward to collecting the car on tuesday :)
17th July 2010

I thought i would post a new thread for this as i am very proud and very happy of the car and how far it has come.
The car is mapped and sorted! not as high power as i thought but as you can see the power is still climbing lol. The car has been at Tour-De-Force for the past 2/3 weeks. The car...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
the problem is with RAC and AA is that the customer service is not consistent. One van driver may not be bothered and pick you up etc, another one may tell you to f@ck off.
I got towed from leeds to boro with the track car, that is too low so he helped...
I provided Craig with a genuine renault seal kit.
This is the seal he removed compared to a correct one (correct seal on right)
and the clutch
As said, Craig looks like he has got his act together so credit goes to him. Not singing his praises yet as the car is still in Wales but so far...
Car was delivered to Matt at Tour-De-Force last monday.
The engine bay wiring was stripped back with the renault ECU being removed. The dash was then fitted and control box wired up.
Matt got the car started and the engine sounded spot on, produced the correct oil pressure etc. But then a big...
Fitted a fuel pump/filter and the car runs brilliant! no knocking or anything, very smooth.
Fitted new front pads and discs and new rear pads and discs. Had to replace one of the rear calipers due to it being seized.
Gave the interior a wipe over for the photo as i havent got many photos of...
Started on getting the car going today.
- Fixed the wiring in the car so it would turn over (car turned but would not fire)
- Repaired the TDC loom/plug
- Removed each plug, re-gapped them
- Check fire order and check for spark.
After doing this the car would not fire so knew it was fuel...
Plan is to keep it completely standard, tidy it up, MOT it and drive around listening to a 90's mix tape  then once i get bored....sell it lol
Its a non runner but i havent even looked at why its not starting, hopefully i will get it running on tuesday.

Well ive gone and bought it. Its a Renault 5 GT Turbo on a G plate with 79k on the clock. Its had 2 previous owners with all tax discs present, and possibly a fully service history. The car was bought from a lady who had a troubled divorce with her husband in 1999 so the car has been stored for...
Im using Catcam 423 cams with standard valves and catcam springs:
5502423
292 / 284°
255 / 247°
11.25 / 11.25mm
3.95 / 3.40mm
custom
HYDR: rally & race
These were the wildest cam i could go for without using solid lifters, i did look at the 551/552/553 cams but they all require solid lifters...
nobody on here has used the cams which i have used so im not sure. The 422's which are the slightly milder cam produce around 235/240bhp so i would suspect around that. Not sure on torque tbh.

The engine is now complete!
Once fitted i wasnt too happy with how close the filter was to the bonnet so decided to cut the skin out of the bonnet. I didnt have the nerve so gave the job to the fabricator.
The car now will be loaded onto a low loader and will delivered to Tour De Force on...
