I keep looking at that picture and think there is sooooo much to do, but hopefully things will progress really fast once the platforms are in, Windiw man is coming round in the day tommorow to remove the glass, Just makes things easier to paint,
Managed to dig my potato out again and take a pic of the new shell, All ready for cleaning and bracket removal tommorow, Hopefully have the cage platforms welded in and complete shell painted by mid next week.
I'm assuming because if the sudden impact and the hub being cast which is brittle that failed befor bending anything. Also where it took the hit was a bit like sticking the end of a broom stick between two bricks, not much force would snap it.
Yes Pete, the two parts were still present and...
That's a proper pain in the back side tony but as others have said, better now than the morning qualifying!
Lets hope for all of us that this season can only get better
I'm re using the cage as its not damaged, it never hit the roof,
I'm re shelling it due to the inner quarter damage where it landed on its arse on the passenger rear quarter. If there was any danger that the cage took a hit I would bin it.
So I finally got to look at the Clio today, Plan was to assess the AST's and go from there, First inspection shows that there is no damage to the strutts and all that has been damaged is front subframe(which just kissed the engine sump) off side wishbone, hub and ball joint,
We shot off to...
These are my thoughts too Tony,
it would just be nice to be certain that touching the kerb pushed what was already an out of balance car to go past the point of no return. Rather than a mechnaical fault ( albeit I put that car in that situation)
Dont get me wrong, Its part of motorsport that...
Hi Kenny,
The steering wheel didnt break, and in the past I've tried my hardest to pull it off without pulling the release.
Its a lifeline style quick release which are ultra reliable so can only think I didnt put it on properly,
I did have one of those weld on ones and within a week the pin...
Thank you, Lol
I'll now know when you are using excuses in the TARC! Problem is, you always think you are the first to use them. Clerks of the course aint so silly to believe them
Gearbox fault, Its the driver that had a problem, lol,
You should have gone to specsavers Adam, The track is dry!
I know why the back end broke away, I can deal with that, I can deal with the back end going light, My issue is, If I didnt hit anything or nothing broke then why is the...
Thanks Ian,
Collecting a shell on Monday and will crack on with it as soon as I can, Ive emailed Steve to see what the latest I can send my entry in, However, if there is any damage to the AST's then its game over for a while.
Can someone with eagle ears go back and have a listen to the...
Until I get them off Sonny I couldnt say, but just a quick look yesterday they didnt show on damage, so fingers crossed mate,
I'll start stripping the car on Monday so will know more then,
Thanks to everyone for their sentiments and offers of help,
In the true spirit of motorsport me and the boys at Mumbray Motorsport will try and get the car ready for Rockingham.
The car initaily felt alot tighter with better turn in, The back end was alot stiffer but still getting some understeer, I'd only done 2 laps before my shunt and Paul and James had sent me out just to bed the new pads in and see how the car felt.
It felt good so was trying to find its limit...
Thanks James,
How much to rent your car? lol.
Fingers crossed I should have something sorted by Rockingham, we'll see as there is not much mechanical damage. Just the shell
