    Wheels and tyres

195/50/R15 is the normal tyre size for a 15 x 7J wheel. If you ordered a set of 15 inch wheels, this is the tyre size i'd expect to receive. I'd say there are more benefits from running on 15's than sticking to 16 inch anyway. Both on the road and track.

    Matthew's BMW Z4 (#2)

I really wish i'd had held out for a decent 3.0 Z4 when i was looking at the end of December. Ended up with a TT which I sold on at a massive lose 3 months later. Looking at this thread is tempting me to have another look around for one.

    My Second 182

Cheers mate. Selling it was definitely a mistake, glad to have it back now though. It's not been driven much recently, for two reasons. One I've been off on paternity leave due to the arrival of my third baby girl, but more so because the alternator casing snapped, the bracket also cracked, and...

    Recommendations for a track car

Pads are a personal preference, a lot of people go with either DS2500 or CL5+ for a starter track day pad. So that would be a good place to start. Depends exactly what you're after too, if you're going to drive to and from the track, you probably don't want to go too hardcore either. Standard...

    Recommendations for a track car

Track pads, brake fluid and braided brake line, and a set of decent track tyres, I'd say are the most important. I've done a track day with uprated fluid braided line and standard brembo pads, but you need to manage the temperature a lot more. I ran cup dampers and eibach sportlines. With...

    Alternator and Aux Belt change

Is the 110amp required, as it's almost double the price?

    Alternator and Aux Belt change

I think my Alternator is about to pack in.... seems noisy and there is a slight burning smell that appears to be coming from it, or at least in that area. I've looked on Eurocarparts, GSF, etc and there appears to be a 75amp option or a 110amp option. Does anyone know which i'd need on a 05...

    My Second 182

So i sold this just before Christmas and set about looking for either a Z4 3.0, or a TT 225. Ended up with a TT as i couldn't find a nice enough Z4 in my budget, possibly due to the time of year. Didn't really get on with the TT, it's a nice car and certainly a lot faster than the clio, but i...

    Corbeau Clubsport?

They do seem very flexible, I tried sitting in one before bolting it into the car and was very concerned about the flex. Seem to remember asking on here about it actually. But once bolted in they're not too bad. Like i Said above, i just had a bit of flex in the bottom when gravity forced me...

    Corbeau Clubsport?

I had this setup when i had clubsports for the buckle. Didn't like having the buckle bolted to the side of the seat, as the seats are just fibreglass. I really liked these seats and may get them again. I did find the shoulder wings a little too rounded forwards for me on long distance drives...

Where is the best/cheapest place to get new Bilstein B14 kit for the 1*2's?

I used Vogtland springs and dampers on my old hybrid turbo'ed tdi jetta. I didn't want to spend too much at the time and i think these were only about £360. From memory they're quite popular in the rest of Europe and America, and share parts with Koni (or another well known brand). I had no...

A048 road use?? Do they work

I've used Nankang NS-2R in the past and wouldn't bother with them again unless for a track car, they're good in the dry and seem to last well on track, but the wet grip on the road is a bit crap to be honest (similar to the Toyo T1R that were on the car when i bought it). These get better rating...

    172 itb's

ITB setup would probably cost £1.5k fitted and setup (£2k+ with aftermarket ECU easy). Plus it's low mileage. Without belts if it's in decent condition I'd say £2.5k was a fair price to be honest. At the end of the day the belt and dephaser is £500 fitted. I'd always factor in getting it done...

    eBay short shift any good?

Short shifters don't work to well with the clio gearbox, as it rushes the syncro mesh. At least that's my limited understanding. Basically they're a no go, and given the above i'd definitely avoid a 30% reduction. Yanoo does a 10% reduction, which you might be able to get away with, but again...

    ***How much is it worth?***

It is an awesome little car, and it's been 100% reliable in the 6 months and approx 7k miles i've had it. But my commute to work is generally long straight A roads with average speed cameras. There are a couple of tight twisty roads that i can have fun down, and it's brilliant fun down them, but...

    ***How much is it worth?***

Think i've decided i'm going to part with my 182 and get something a little more comfortable, as i'm doing more mileage than i originally thought i'd do and its just a little too loud and comfortable really. I do love the car though and i'll be gutted to see it go. What do you reckon its worth...

    Goodyear eagle F1's for track??

I've just moved over from a set of NS2R in 180, to a set of AD08R. Nothing really wrong with the NS2R, not great in the wet, but not really bad either. I did do a track day with them last month, and noticed a decent jump in grip levels once they had a few laps on them. Ended the day having...

    My Second 182

I kind of justified it to myself that i'll be able to sell the Ultraleggera and NS2R tyres and not be a massive amount down.... we'll see i guess I do like the smaller wheel, bigger tyre look, but as noted it need dropping, probably another 20mm all round roughly i'd say. Would also have...

    My Second 182

Well decided to change the wheels, as I don't think the Ultraleggera's really suit the clio to be honest. Ordered a set of 16inch pro race 1.2's but would have been 6+ week for delivery to be manufactured. So because i'm impatient I switched to 15inch, then needed new rubber so got some AD08R...

    Goodyear eagle F1's for track??

In my experience the ASY3 is a much better tyre all round compared to the RS3. I've had the RS2's on the Clio in 205/45/16, the rs3 in 195/50/15 & 196/45/16. And on a jetta in 205/55/16. I wouldn't buy them again to be honest, not for a reasonably fast/performance car anyway. The sidewalls are...

    Team Dynamic wheel offset+size recommendation

As i said ET45 - 35 is the normal range for offset. But people do run a lot less, hence suggesting looking for pics and further info in case he wanted to run a more aggressive setup. I see this thread has a few pics of what people are running (mainly ET35 as would be expected), but there are...

    rear cage

Or wear a helmet whenever you drive it. Seriously though if it's a track car that you're just driving to and from the track would this be an issue? Probably more hassle than it's worth. But is unbolting the front section of cage a viable option for a car used more as a road car.
  23. Darryl_1983

    Team Dynamic wheel offset+size recommendation

Simple answer and safe option is ET45 - ET35. Lower number the wider the track/more the wheel will poke out. You can get away with more but run the risk of rubbing. Tyres also differ in width, track tyre tend to be a wider fit. So more likely to rub It's worth searching the forum for pics of...

    rear cage

Dedicated track/race car = Full cage to give as much protection as possible Part time track car/Road Car = Rear Cage only to keep it a little more pratical I imagine getting in and out of the car with bucket seats and a full cage is a bit of a nightmare if using on the road. Whether a Rear...

    Team Dynamic wheel offset+size recommendation

I ordered some 16's in graphite satin yesterday, but it seems they've actually got no stock of 16's and it's a 6 week wait. They were also having difficulty getting some offsets made up, but ET30 and ET35 were fine. Ended up changing to 15's in the same colour, which they had one set of in...

    Ultralight F1 alloys

Yeah they are nice, loads of cars were running them at donington on Saturday, much pushed me towards them, then the price drop just makes it an easy choice in the end. I do still like these ultralite though. Hopefully OP gets a set to show off
  27. Darryl_1983

    Ultralight F1 alloys

They are 16 x 7, think et is 37. They will be for sale in a week or two's time yes.
  28. Darryl_1983

    Ultralight F1 alloys

I've just ordered some Pro Race 1.2's in graphite satin (16x7, ET35) for £357 after topcashback of 6%. I was considering these anyway, but they were about £470 the other day in that colour and size.
  29. Darryl_1983

    Ultralight F1 alloys

Don't suppose you have a link to that do you? Looking at the ultralite website they should weight 6.9kg, which i believe is pretty good for a 16inch wheel...

    Ultralight F1 alloys

To be honest the more i look at the Enkei RPF1, the more i'm tempted to get a set of these to replace my Ultraleggera. I've had F1's, pro race 1.2 and obviously the Ultraleggera now. I wouldn't mind another set of Pro Race 1.2's, but I don't fancy any of the standard colours (maybe graphite)...
