Suppose it will be leaking oil tendencies - dont think the boxes run well without it!
When i get mine back, it shouldnt leak should it, with it all being reconnd?
Im glad mine went in a way - least its something less to worry about when its fixed - get a decent clutch and warranty with gearbox - might perform a little better too... just steering rack and snapping timing belt to worry about now...!
Seen a Williams1 today at the scrappers....
Bodywork is mint, apart from needing a new front wing, missing an alloy, and looks like its had some major suspension damage - the strut on the passenger side is raised and bent, both front wheels are facing the opposite way, and the rear passenger...
So would you recommend this over the K-tec and BB ones, seeing as they are more than double the price? - sounds good - i know Sachs are a excellent make, German arnt they?
Just checked this out....
Andyspares offer a Sachs 5GTT clutch kit for £65+vat
K-Tecs group N one is part Sachs, part Valeo, they say that they take the best bits of each of the two kits (Valeo casing and Sachs clutch), and put em together to make a better unit combined....
Uprated 5GTT one eh? it definatly works ok with the valver? no probs?
And is exactly the same as the K-Tec one?
Mmmm, need to investigate this one..thanks for the help guys..
Does anyone recommend any decent clutch kits for the 16v?
Gearbox has gone, so gonna get a decent clutch in at same time, so far i have seen:
EBC - but was told theyre utter sh1te!
AP Racing - apparently excellent
BB Tuning Uprated Clutch kit - ?
Anyone recommend me anything good?
I let mine leak for months and topped it up once....it packed up yesterday...
onlt 1st and 5th work and reverse...
Get it sorted, mines costing £450ish to recon and new clutch at same time..
I think my box has finally died, and am wanting to know what is the best thing to do...should i find a good s/hand one, or get mine reconditioned? Is it a good time to get a new clutch in there aswell?
Has anyone done this, and how much am i looking at spending?
Also, cluth is very spongy - biting point is way further back than normal, and clutch pedal has to be almost against footwell when changing gear....and a lot of play with the pedal when its in its neutral position, maybe an inch...
Anyone know?
On my way to work this morning and everything ok, stopped at some lights..set of again, 1st ok, 2nd ok 3rd, loud crack and popped out of gear, tried again, and same....put in 4th and then back to 3rd, and ok. Came off a round about and same happend again, like its not just selecting 3rd and...
180000km Edd????????
Have you had it serviced or repaired, or is that from new?!?
Mines got 94k miles on it and seems ok, but getting scared as i approach 100k mile - steering rack on its way out already..
Have u checked your plugs? mine got really bad with this - took out the plugs and two of them were drenched in oil, from me spilling it when topping up -duh- cleaned them up with a cloth and a wire brush - all tapping noise gone, apart from tappets on start up when engine cold - but that stops...
New switch? i just got one today (bloody £22 from reno)
All the connectors inside my old one had melted and knackered - i was using a screwdriver for the last two weeks to make the contact so the passenger window would go up and down...ok now tho
Has anyone fitted a low temp fan switch and low temp thermostat on their 16v?
Just seen them on BBs site, and was wondering if this is worth doing with the (hopefully) hot weather on its way....
Anyone know where i can get a momo boss kit from for a momo steering wheel?
Are they interchangable between different momo wheels?, and owwww much like?
Whoops, just realised i posted this in the wrong forum....
Thanks for the advice anyhow, already wired mine up from the last time i had some gear in the boot before it was all nicked....
So time to get messy tommorrow...how much is that acoustic carpet stuff?
Thinking of making a false floor for the boot, something to hide a couple of amps in, then carpet it all in what should hopefully resemble a factory finish...
Has anyone any experience in this at all? Any pointers?
All i can think i need is a jigsaw, some MDF,and some patience....mmmm..
