Could you maybe slide a sleeve over that shaft and weld it that way? I believe my mates 106 turbo with a BE box has sleeved shafts as he had a similar recuring issue.
It is a straight swap, however, the colour of the shaft is different, its a lighter grey, it will stand out.
Tape and wrap the knob with a cloth and use a pair of stilsons and a vice to remove it, it will come off eventually, I had to do it with mine. Then saw your current one off and fit it on...
Im running a Scenic lever, bent 45 degrees to match the original shifter, with a Yanoo 1.0 insert and a ph1 ball gearknob. I have a breaker with an ebay metal shifter that is the same size as the original, in comparison to the original both are an improvement, providing a stiffer shift action...
I was sorting out my garage yesterday, including all of my old car magazines, found an issue of Fast Car from 2009 with the Clio in it, you had just fitted some speakers!
This car has been around as long as I have been driving, get it finished mate!
I can highly recommend @Tom Johnson well worth the drive, well worth the wait. Very knowledgeable bloke who has his own racer. Anyone concerned about travel I would just do it, you get it tailored to your exact requirements and fitted while you wait.
My arguement is that you need a cage for harnesses and buckets, those (along with ad08r tyres) are the best improvements I have made to driveability, but I wouldnt run harnesses without a cage again.
Ive done a full suspension refresh with OE bits and cup dampers/cooksports/pms mounts and brace, and a cage. Really noticed the improvement with the rigidity of the car after the cage, I am looking for some coilies in the future though.
If you take the dash top off there is plenty of room to tuck the wires away.
I had a kenwood unit that could change the illumination of the screen and writing to match the renault lighting, swapped the cigar lighter for an aux/usb fascia so it looked a little more oem.
Thanks for the reply. I will check that at the weekend. Is there a possibility that its the control box? Or is it more likely to be a motor issue?
@GrahamS suggested to me the alternator not charging the battery may be a possible cause as well. I have noticed a definate whine from the aux belt...
Personally I think its horrendous, Ive driven mine with and without assistance and I think you would struggle to quickly add opposite lock etc. due to how heavy the steering is, I know some people love it.
Right guys, I have a problem with my EPAS. Car has been stood for 3 months, today I went...
Ebay motorcycle fuel vent breather, it comes on a little length of hose, but you pull that hose off and stick it onto the cars hose. Only cost a few quid.
@leemckew a heatgun, scraper and patience is the best way, I did mine 20 mins a night for nearly 2 weeks. Get a spray degreaser and a credit card to get the residue off.
I have the same issue. Its from the outside, look for a hole in the seam sealer in the wheel arch, grind it back, treat it, seam sealer (tigerseal spread with a lollypop stick!), spray underseal and paint. If you just do it from inside, it will come back very quickly. @JohnyD
