Thursday 9th Feb?
I pass that way on my way home from uni on a Thursday so it works perfectly fine for me, not that I need any excuse to eat donuts, this fine bod doesn't maintain itself.
Decide a time and I'll pop over.
Yep, it's on the way to being a tidy little bargain Cup.
I've just got it back from some dent repair work, very impressed. I'll get some pictures up soon.
Today, I stripped the car back, as next weekend it is going in for a complete dent and scuff repair makeover.
Mainly shopping dings and scratches, also some roof repair where the bonnet flipped on the previous owner. Looking forward to it being a lot tidier in general. I will need a drivers...
Oh yeah I know, I'm more than aware that realistically there are only a few scales ever needed, my post was more about the theory behind Zoom XP, and how to quickly do it, depending what your end user wants.
Generally, scales should be chosen based not on what you can show, but what you're trying to show.
I'm in Civil Engineering, so my examples will probably be different but my point is, think about what the end user will be using it for, if it's a GA, then you can show a wider area, if it's a...
Yeah the drivers side is fine.
Okay, so the caliper is probably the culprit.
Is a zip tied lever okay? I'd rather it just be working properly, instead of having a bodge?
I know this has been covered a few times, but I'm trying to get some answers to more than just the first question.
So, I've bought this cup, and while I was under it yesterday, I noticed that the brake bias lever, was zip tied all the way up. My understanding is that there should be a spring...
It's not a passenger that causes it, it's weight, as I drove home the other day with a lot of crap in the back and it was doing the same noise under acceleration, it's like a creaking/grinding, really hard to put my finger on.
Searches tell me it could be the exhaust, the springs (Apex's seem...
Got a few things sorted today.
Old dogbone was shagged, so hopefully that's sorted. Still want an OEM engine mount though.
Boot lock is sorted now, new solenoid fixed it.
NSR brake is binding, pretty well too, so I need to sort that. Cleaned the sliders and greased them, but it's still...
Mainly after a curry...
Okay seriously, the Cup has a strange issue I'm struggling to diagnose.
When I have a passenger in the car, there seems to be a grinding/creaking coming from the NSR (I think) only when I accelerate.
Now I know the NSR caliper is sticking, so it could be that, but...
Got some work done on the Clio today.
First off, the jobs with no pretty pictures. Speed sensor fitted, the heatshield on the previous one was in the incorrect position, exposing the sensor to the heat of the manifold. I can only assume the sensor was getting jolly toasty and that's what was...
OEM dogbone mount ordered from RPD, it was my works computer throwing the postage, RPD website thought I was in The Netherlands.
Anyone know what torque setting to use on the DB mount?
Is there anywhere best to get OEM Renault parts, that offers some sort of discount?
I've ordered the speed sensor from my local dealer, it was full price but I wanted it for the weekend.
Could do with a new dogbone mount in the near future, wondering if there's any discounted OEM place?
Edit...
Nice one. I've already ordered a speed sensor for the gearbox as it seems to be the solution to the problem every time I read up on it on various forums.
The boot lock, yeah I plan to have a look at it and figure out what's going on.
Few other little niggles need sorting too.
Oh, and hi...
Plans are:
Tidy up the bodywork (dent man)
Sort the mechanicals out (speedo, boot lock, engine mount, dogbone mount)
Try and source some original Cup Turinis
Then from there, I'm not sure. I'd like to do some trackdays, but the car will probably be an OEM project really.
Hi all,
So after a few years away from Cliosport, and Clios, I'm back with a new project 😌
Some of you will remember my most recent project, the BMW E21:
Not quite in it's final guise, but close enough.
Well anyway that was sold to help finance moving into my first place.
Not...
Yeah it's up for sale properly this time.
The seats have divided opinion, my camera hasn't done them any favours, they're much darker in person. They are Recaros too, so nothing a recover wouldn't sort. I'm also selling the original seats too.
But yeah, I want it gone this time. It's been a...
So the time had come for a new throttle cable, the old one was a bit of a bodge and I really don't know how it lasted as long as it did.
Anyway, got all the parts I needed from Venhill:
Needed to make 2 new brackets in total, as I wanted a good amount of tension adjustment in the cable...
Another update:
New seats are coming along nicely, my design for the subframes is a little bit awesome, but I'll wait until they're in properly before I touch on that too much.
Got a few bits on order but nothing of any major merit, other than the holes in the front wing/valance join will soon...
