I've got a 172 Turbo
Wife hated my 172 Cup, she seems to like the turbo a little more, we use it when we go out without our kids. However, we went out late summer and it was hammering down "ffs, does this thing go in a straight line?"
She'd like us to have a "nicer" second car, but I'd rather...
When I sold mine I remember saying to you that I thought the price they were now was to expensive and not worth it.
A few laps of Silverstone later and it's the next mod on my car again! Hoping for a Black Friday discount!
I know exactly what you mean, when I put my 172 Cup back on the road 12 months ago it was the greatest thing ever. Refreshed suspension, diff & standard power, it was epic.
If the ED turbo hadn't come up cheaply then I doubt I'd ever have changed it for another 2nd car, it did everything I...
The O2M is the more popular choice but it's the cost that puts a lot off, Gary Spooner - The Clio Man on Facebook has a conversion for sale today.
However, by the time you've done that and spent a lot, you could've just swapped out the Clio engine to a Megane engine & R26 box.
This one was 285bhp, which is plenty and usable. Once you go over 300bhp, you end up not being able to use the full power of the car unless you stick to somewhere like Bedford and it's never ending straight. Just look at Dan Potters video's as an example.
Chasing bhp is really pointless in a Clio, you'll end up like this guy who can't use the power.
Having been in Clio's of various power, 230/280/300 and 400 on track, anything above what this car currently has can't be used properly.
Rather than chasing power, fit a diff, a set of ASTs and...
Interesting to see where you go with the 182, imo it doesn't need any more BHP but does need handling (and reliability) mods to make it a good track day car
Yeah, pulled the rail and pointed them into a container.
My 3 was at constant cycle and was obvious to spot, yours might be a failing one.
@dann2707 does an injector cleaning service for cheap enough and then replace them if he can't get them cycling
As it's been to EFI, Chris would've pointed out if it was overfueling & fixed it.
As the compression readings are so close, even if you've done it wrong, I'd say it's fine.
In all honestly, I have no idea. If someone came up and said here is £5200 they could have it as I could break it for that. I REALLY want a Megane 250/265/275, but I have no use for a second car as it doesn't get used enough to justify so having another £2000-12000 invested in a car isn't wise...
A video of a terribly slow lap at Silverstone, booked late track time and didn't have a chance to swap from road pads & tyres. But lots of turbo noise for your enjoyment.
Mine is a second car which rarely gets used.
Costs me £250 a year for insurance on my 172 Turbo, pay it in one go and it's done with. I'm with Keith Michaels, so it may be worth shopping around.
Tax comes out monthly, and I SORN it for months at a time. Before owning this one, my Cup lived...
I'd stay with Cup shocks tbh, unless you spend lots of money then coilovers aren't worth it and if you spend lots of money then it's compromised on the road. Even my B14s are awful on our lane, great on smooth roads but then not fantastic on track
Looks fantastic as always Chris.
