I love mine. My issue with the latest update was to do with an app I had running because it happened after rolling back. Once I removed the app, the issue went away.
Currently I'm NYC and using the second sim for data on 3! 25gb of data, yes please.
What do you do buddy? (if you can say)
I've worked on a project for nearly 3 years the out various iterations of spec on a radar for vehicle detection. It's ultra low power and we have customers using it in some pretty cool stuff. The main radar board also has a secondary processor on it...
Seeing all this talk of ultra high level languages makes me think I'd kill for ram on the product I work on!
120 kilobytes of ram and in that I have... RTOS, Bluetooth stack, tcp/ip stack, USB device stack, USB host stack, eMMC + FAT stack. That's before I even get to my application...
I sadly predate even that.
I worked with a guy (he was a professor and former physics teacher at eton) who built a computer out of discrete components, not microchips, transistors.
He was about 70!
Up until recently we still had a piece of equipment in our office that had a 5 1/4 inch floppy.
They did take off, they were the format of choice for the day, but got replaced with the 3 1/5 inch disk which was higher capacity, more robust etc.
There was originally an 8 inch floppy as...
Toys for geeks essentially.
Up until then, if you wanted one you had to be an electronics geek and build one (it's not that difficult, even back then).
Java's motto was "Write once, run anywhere." where basically, it should've been "Write once, run anywhere, horribly.".
I hate it, and I hate Eclipse with an even bigger passion. Apps look like b*****d children of every operating system going, they don't behave like they should on any OS and...
C or C++ with a sprinkling of assembler thrown in here and here. For desktop software, C++ with Qt, proper cross platform. ;)
I do spend a lot of time looking at compiler output to see what code it's generated and whether in critical places I can make a better job of optimising the code than...
OK, I'll prefix this by saying that background creep is always my major enemy.
This is on ak.
36 hours since charge, 2 hours screen on, 1 hour of call time....still on 36%.
I'm pretty happy with that!
There's a new version of the AK updater, I tried older version with 0.15 was released and it didn't work, just sat there.
Easy enough to boot in TWRP though to install.
@Addicted have you updated to 0.15 of ak? I did and it killed my battery, was dropping a % every minute regardless of whether the screen was on, switched backed to 0.14 and it all returned back to normal.
Yeah it's crazy how much difference you can make. I only rooted because of @Addicted always rooting and thought I'd see what was possible. Last time I rooted an android device was a long time ago!
Out of interest, what did you select as the delivery option? ALWAYS select standard, NEVER express in the UK, not that this time round it probably makes a difference with the open sale as there is probably no UK stock.
Yeah I don't use that kind of setup because that is still a polled setup, all be it the gmail servers polling the other mail servers rather than the email client you're running doing it directly. Your IT department or contract of employment might also have something to say about you forwarding...
It doesn't support anything other than gmail accounts, hence why you have to forward other email accounts to your gmail.
Your IT department are still using POP? :frowning: Fooking hell, give them a slap and tell them it's not the 90's any more!
He's using Inbox, which you wonder after 2 minutes of using it how you ever lived without it!
IMAP was killing my battery, I like push email, we go to a lot of gigs and stuff, so having a 30 min delay on an email can mean missing secret gigs!
He won't need to do do any kind of periodic...
Yep, just forward find the setting on your hotmail account in their web interface to forward email to your gmail account.
On gmail, create a filter tag email with your hotmail address as "hotmail" (this is really just for your own benefit, you don't have to do this, just makes it easier to see...
Just bite the bullet mate and do it. Take some screen shots etc of any apps, a hours worth of pain will be worth it for all the advantages that root brings.
No time will ever be the "right time" if you've got stuff installed, but it's only ever going to get worse going forward. Do it. Do it now!
One of the best things for battery saving is to remove ANY IMAP mail client, even with IDLE they all seem to rape your battery. Biggest saving I had on unrooted/stock was to remove the email app (tried loads, k9, outlook, cloudmagic etc) and battery life went up significantly.
I obviously have...
