Thanks Adam!
The engine was taken apart today; the cause was a pin attaching a con rod. It is a common part used in many engines, and is from a respected manufacturer. It is being sent to them to diagnosis if it was defective, otherwise i guess we'll be scratching heads! Perhaps it was just...
Yes, it runs a dry sump system. The chain in that went at Combe; the camchain went on a subsequent test day. It is basically a crate Cosworth engine but fitted with a few bits by Scholar, from their experience in Formula Ford etc.
It was fitted with a WRC spec camchain after the last failures...
This thread should really read 'Oulton Park Race Report', but then it would have been overselling things somewhat!
Unfortunately i didn't get to race at the weekend, or even qualify. Unfortunately (you must be used to that word with me!), the engine blew three laps into the morning practice...
As much as i love the noise, and the 355, lets not have another exhaust noise thread!
The flatplanes make an amazing noise, for me it is better than any Pagani. However, search for the Gembella Mirage Carrera GT and, for me, it wins hands down.
I think it is silly people call them TTs, have you not seen them on the road!? They are very wide; they have a proper supercar stance, far more so than any 911.
Having said that, i thought it was a based on the Gallardo, and so a bit long in the tooth now? I'm sure i read something about an all...
Sounds great, well done! Look forward to the vid.
Takes me back to Combe a couple of years back when it was 32 degrees outside and god knows what in the car. Was sitting in full clobber in the car in the collecting area for about 20 mins, almost passed out!
I'm not sure your photos do the car justice, but in the flesh i think these look great. In fact, i mistake them for the SL which is no bad thing!
How much are they in comparison with the Boxster?
I actually like the wheels!
They are nice cars and a shrewd purchase. My only issue is the owners, which seem to act like they are driving an uber-baller car just because it is a TT. Seems to be a recent thing with Audis, i get tailgated by friggin A1s! They are tarted up Polos, you mugs...
Technically illegal i believe, but i've gotten away with it with numerous cars. If you ever got in trouble about it, you'd be incredibly unlucky; it's still perfectly legible.
I saw a very similar coloured Murcielago enter London (the Arabs are in town!) at the weekend and it looked fantastic, and was being followed by an equally awesome example in matt blue.
I get 31mpg at the most from my R with two less cylinders! Although, i suppose it is still tight. Thing is, if i cane it, i still get 27mpg, so prefer to just do tahat...
