I live in Blackheath and commute to West Malling, near Maidstone.
Yeah, hoping economy will improve, its more the range that is the issue as i pass barely any petrol stations on the commute.
I looked for a second hand example Danny but the specs just weren't right. I found one with Recaros but it was in white and being sold 'for a friend' so i walked away from it. All the ex-demo cars have a limit of how many options are allowed to specified by dealers, so in the end buying new was...
I think they look slab sided but still LOVE them, especially in that purpley-blue. And frankly it could look like a Micra as long as it kept the noise... just a shame its not the £100k car it should be.
Must we a fair saving in terms of weight and drivetrain loss. Saw a vid on YT with a Golf (400bhp) versus a Rocco (360bhp) and if anything the Rocco looked like it had the legs.
Cam follower! Thats it! Something to worry about then?
Well done, very happy for you. Bet that was heart in the mouth near the end not knowing if you were going to make it!
100 degrees in our K-Series meant retirement and a rebuild...lol
Interesting to know!
Sorry to hijack, but what is your view on the cokeing up of the E888 engine? On the US forums everyone talks about replacing 'something' (can't remember what it is!) to stop problems, which included power loss. Any idea what i'm talking about?!
I've driven 250 miles over...
Hope you get a result regarding fault, but sadly this will be your NCB gone neverthless, and your premiums affected accordingly for the next few years :dapprove:
I personally love the Polo, and think it is a great advert that young drivers can have a cool looking car for not much. That Transporter is awesome though, is it used for work or something, surely not his only 'car'? They're certainly not cheap as a toy...
Thanks everyone.
Interesting to hear about the Rocco and the lack of 4WD. Did notice that my mates Mk5 Golf had a deeper boot, is that down to the haldex then or is the Mk6 boot just shallower? Still, fitted in a massive TV today no probs. Also went to the dump yesterday so it is has been an...
Thanks Russ, i did get a 10% discount which i was happy with. Supposedly they are not meant to offer discounts on Rs.
I was really surprised that my dealer said there is no running in period! I'm going to enforce one anyway.
Maybe i'll search for some tuners nearer your way and make a day of it.
I think there is an option out there for everyone though really. If you want everyone to know you have the greatest hot hatch, then the Focus RS is the more obvious choice. But i really don't want to be worrying about my car getting keyed or worse. There was also the additional box ticked having...
I occasionally set it by accident in the Porsche, that is far as i've got! To be honest it would be useful for my commute (motorway all the way) it may be useful, but then i've never had an issue with using my right foot, just lazy with my left!
Thanks guys. Yes, it's steel grey. I may remap it being a K04d engine, almost rude not to!
On the way home i mastered the steering wheel controls so no knob issues!
It was expensive, yes, but i got a 10% discount. It has every option but Cruise.
They are very similar to wheels on the Audi S5...in fact i'd say many of the styling cues are a bit Audi-like.
Sorry, will get some proper shots up when i find where i placed my DSLR!
So i've been waiting a mammoth 8 months for it, but my new Golf R has finally arrived!
When i first started looking for a new car, it was based around my decision to move into London which involves street parking. Therefore, i wanted something reasonably subtle that wouldn't get unwanted...
Have to say, watched a bit of the DTM race and it was just a procession. I suppose it is an experience to see cars that quick, but just about every other race that weekend was more entertaining.
Dirty burgers are the choice of champions Steve!
Thanks guys. Also loved that photo, as it shows off the new rear lights with a direct comparison of the old ones! It is a cool angle, get a good impression of the topology there.
So, the DTM were back in town again this year to kindly support my race. Its always nice to have a crowd at an event, makes a difference from the handful that normally show up! It does mean the weekend is a long one, despite limited running.
The big news was that we were running our new engine...
My race team boss has the above spec 535d in grey, looks very nice and goes well too!
TBF, your car would just look better if it was standard. Why green lights and tiny wheels?
Cheers!
Will do a write up of the DTM event over the next couple of days. A lot of power to come actually, airbox and exhaust were strangling the new engine big time.
