The Spray Shack Clio (Pic Heavy)

Still havent had chance to finish it, and do proper photos, but heres it at FCS. Shes 10 years old and had a hard life, so we cant expect perfection but shes alright. Next job is to take it to trax and rage the living hell out of it.......i never intended it to become a show peice really, as it...

Is buying a 172 Cup the right thing?

The whole point of the CUP is that its a raw drivers car, no driving aids etc, if you want safety features then it definately isnt the car for you. ABS is definately useful, but you learn to simply lift off the brake slightly when it skids, when i first got my cup it did catch me out in the wet...

what code am i looking at in my door for paint code?

Yep, there might be different shades of the same colour mind you, if its just for small trim bits it wont matter too much about the shade aslong as you pick sensibly :) Cheers, Simon @ SS

    Semi-skimmed Ride Height Front/Back

I think its fine, my other clio is lowered on coils and i recent purchased a standard cup, it looks just like that, rear dampeners were duff, replaced them still sits the same, but handles like a train like a cup should. IMO i think we all forget just how gash these cars look direct from the...

    Lovely :) Welcome

    Strange handling.

+1 for rear shocks, jack up the car, drop the lower bolt on the dampener (one at a time, unless you have a ramp) and push/pull it up and down, i bet it sounds very squidgy.

    Mint Alloys

TPI wheel bolts & lockers for the win, besides the standard locking wheel nut clearence to the stud holes is very tight on some 197's we've had in, so theres one other reason to change them aswell.

    What lacquer did you use?

    Alternatives to Spray Shack?

I admit this is our bad, we have litery tons of parts in at the moment, its really kicked off for us recently, so ive been a little lax getting back to people on all the forums. If you are in need of a quick response, the best way is definately call us or email, alot of quotes we do tend to...

Removing a 'Group N remap' and other options?

Ahh ok, you need an RS tuner + an unlock code if its locked to a car. Then you can just plug it in, see what the map is and overwrite it. IMO the only point putting on an RS tuner map is to smooth out the idle slightly, i have one on my other clio and the idle appears to have been raised a...

Removing a 'Group N remap' and other options?

Leave it alone i say, whatever you do wont be as good as the custom map it has on now.

    Rattle can refurb?

In the areas where there isnt filling or scratching, all you need do is key them......i.e make the current paint dull, what id recommend, and its certainly how we do it for allloy wheels is to use flatting compounds, and scotch bright for the intricate bits that you just cant get to with sand paper.
  26. Simon@SprayShack

    Rattle can refurb?

If you take your time, prep them well, i.e fill, sand, primer, clean, then theres no reason you cant get them looking decent with a rattle can, personally id go for a matt / satin finish if using a rattle can, decent quality prep, primer andpaints should see them last ok.

    RB touchup paint

Main dealers dont do paints, we do 40ml kits (1 x 40ml colour + 1x40ml 1K lacquer) all you need then is a decent artists brush, £15 delivered.

    Sprayers/ bodyshop people

Hi James, aslong as you stick to 1K paints often called cellulose(they are on and the same in my understanding), then you'll be fine for DIY home spraying, but in fairness the whole process is alot more difficult without using 2K paints, thus i would seriously consider just taking the car to a...

    Cracked brake disc

Ive had this happen multple times, 2bh its crap quality discs imo........my calipers each time were sliding fine, not stuck at all. What most people dont know is that the rear brake discs are 8mm thick to begin with, and are to be replaced at 7mm, theres not much wear in them full stop most...
