I've been busy moving house but the car is now back out of storage and into my new garage so strip down Will happen soon
I have collected some new parts in the meantime
Dash2 and data logger with GPS
Bodies and omex
Samco hoses
Pure engine mounts
Following with interest , omex , bodies and group n cams is what i plan to run next year .
Loving the switch panel are you going to be making a full car loom ?
Also do you know if there is any way to feed the dash2 from a cup gearbox speedo drive ?
Would you prefer the similar one he did for my porsche instead ?
Original poster asked for examples of jacks work and thats the one he done for me in the past .
I would love to go solid state PDP but just cant justify the 2k for panel and a dash 2.
I had thought basic loom using a kit similar to this for lights, horn, wipers , then feed a dash2 from the omex for dash information.
Bumping this back up as would love to simplify the wiring as much as possible over winter.
Im running a phase 1 loom and going to be using an Omex ecu for the engine side of things , really don't want to have to spend the extra $$$ on a digi dash if the original clocks and basic car functions...
With the bodies and my old cams the car made 210 bhp before going high comp , with standard cams it will hopefully do 190+ .
The bonus is standard almost throw away engines and shouldnt really have enough power to justify needing a diff for just doing track days.
That and really cant beat the...
Bit of a plot twist :)
In the last month Ive went from selling it , keeping it and plan to turbo , to buying my old bodies and Omex management back from Stu today.
When i first did the bodies and cams on the car it was fun out on track and more importantly reliable , as the engine in the car...
If that is your belt under tension in that pic Neil I would say you have more than enough thread engagement for it not to be an issue , I would look to get some new miss alignment spacer to stop the side load though as looks like the turnbuckle is hitting the alternator body. Get them from...
I loved my one when I had it and even with decent power between 400-450bhp they put down the power very well. The main area of rust early on was where the back bumper rubbed on the arch , ford fixed this under warranty . A lot of them now are showing signs of rust on the underside but panel wise...
Going for option 2 :) , was tempted to sell and buy a Trophy as a investment/track/weekend toy but I would miss the rawness of this thing out on track.
Hopefully by end of October I will be sorted in new house and have more garage space so the clio can come off the trailer and start to get...
What model ??
If its a 172/182 the standard injectors will push to 210 bhp at 100% IDC so no chance you will ever get close to needing 100% with just a remap
Well with work , life and general lack of motivation I’ve missed most of the track season this year.
The car is now in storage while I move house but then need to decide what I’m doing with it.
1. Keep as is and use it next year for trackdays.
2. Turbo it over winter as a project ready for...
Not on a turbo engine but I did just that on my old high comp build , checked the bores ,gapped the rings and dropped forged pistons back in on standard rods. The engine went on to do 230bhp .
Not wanting to hi jack sharkys post
AVA on the first one including switching the ecu to one they could map, and all other parts for 600 bhp
2nd one myself , Sitech and MSD on the mapping on standard ecu.
I really hope you get the enjoyment you truly deserve out of this car once its complete .
I went through a similar story on a smaller scale years ago with a escort cosworth , it was away for over a year getting work done including some new developments. I had the car back and a few small...
That's exactly what I did when I sold the white one.
They still look stunning and nothing beats the kick in the back from a big boost YB, but to drive they really do feel old these days. If I were to have anything ford RS these days it would be another MK2 focus RS .
3 escort cosworths
white big turbo with low miles and 500 bhp , broke for parts making 27k would be worth 40+ now
Pacific blue big turbo really clean car sold for 20K would be worth 40+ now
Petrol blue small turbo sold for 11k ( was only due me 8k) would be worth 25+ now
