Build the cage up in the car and position everything front feet centre feet and make sure the cage is pulled towards the back of the car so the rear feet are on the arch, and the centre feet are as wide apart as possible (you may need to force it out a little, I used ratchet straps.

If you have a cage, buckets, harnesses etc it should not matter for the MOT (I e-mailed VOSA to check) but I still got mine turned off with CLIP so when the ignition is on all lights illuminate then go off once the engine has started
If I were you I would keep trying to replicate the problem and if you can get it to do it more than a couple of times get it checked out, possibly even at a Renault dealers and inform customer services.
If it does not happen again don't worry about it as I am sure your wife will never forget to...

I have the gear linkage and top mounts and strut brace and they are well engineered bits of kit so would assume the exhaust is the same
you should not be getting brake fade on the road, on a track where you are stamping on the brakes every few seconds and braking from high speed I am sure a more open wheel will reduce brake fade but it will be more down to type of pads, discs and fluid used
