I was fortunate enough to be in the Silverstone wing when they warmed up one of these cars prior to one of the historic sport car races at Silverstone Classicthis year! I can upload the video to YouTube if anyone's interested?
I've always given sump plugs a good nip up. Something around 25Nm would be enough I would've thought, but don't try and tighten it too much. It's only a plug and not part of a stressed assembly after all.
This is probably why it's not particularly effective - in those 3 years you've given plenty of opportunity for things to grow inside the plumbing.
This. Air con is great in the winter for de-misting windows (says the 172 Cup owner without air-con)!
The idle is a bit rough on Clio 1*2s even if the timing is 100%, and you'll feel a slight wobble occasionally when sitting stationary. When you say 'stopped water pump leak', are you saying that there was still a leak from that area after a new one was fitted?
It's possible that it's been...
I've seen it on other occasions too! As I recall it has non original cream coloured alloys - the make & model of which I'm unsure of - and the dephaser sounded noisy.
I like the idea of having some classic content! But I wonder if the tracks will appear as per their 80s and 90s layouts. Brands Hatch has changed a little, and of course Imola did after the events of '94.
Between 15:00-16:00 ish I spotted an arctic blue 182 on Chapelfield Road, and on Grape's Hill a black ph2 172 and a green ph1 172 (an Exclusive?). Then at around 21:45 that evening I was wondering up Prince Of Wales road when I spotted another arctic blue 182 (the same one as earlier?) outside...
Exactly! It should be about how much a car is worth to it's owner, not the marketplace. And think of all the classics we'd be without today if it wasn't for a few people spending a bit of money here at a time when the car's value was rock bottom!
Anyway, on topic; ParisPeach - it could've...
Bahaha that is brilliant! I suppose the Vauxhall GSi badge adds a few hundred bhp ;)
Reminds me of the other day when I saw an Audi A3 with what was quite clearly a Renault 'Sport' badge tacked onto the bootlid.
You should try doing the aux belt on a 172 cup - 10mins ;) Although in fairness I did spend a bit of extra time cleaning the pulleys before I put the new belt on.
I decided to go for a Pipercross panel filter, mainly from a long term maintenance point of view (I wanted one that was reuseable) and have been happy with it so far :)
The 80s really were a great time for motor sport; Group A touring cars, Group B rally, Group C sports cars and of course turbo-era F1!
Love the Quattro :)
You can use the tabs on the splitter make it project evenly along the bottom of the bumper, or at least that's what I did and it worked nicely! Find and mark the centres of both the splitter and the bumper too - it'll help you align them more accurately relative to the nearside and offside of...
Went for a swim earlier and whilst walking back to my car I noticed a black 172 ('02 plate) a couple of spaces along. It looked in fairly good nick! Anyone on here?
