The parts are cheaper on carparts4less, which is operated by Euro Car Parts. In fact, when my order for track rod ends and ball joints arrived, there were Eurocarparts stickers on the boxes....
They're more expensive because they're bespoke to that model which was made in a fewer numbers. This means the overall tooling cost is spread over a smaller number of parts which results in each unit costing more relative to the standard model's.
Yeah I was! The Micra between us peeled off at first turn off for Loddon so I was sat behind you briefly before I turned off at a later junction. And due to the warmer weather, my hat's been consigned to my chest of drawers! I'll have to wear my bright red bandana instead :D
Cit-Ren (local French car specialist) charged me a very reasonable £600 for supply and fitting of the cambelt, dephaser pulley (including oil and filter change), and water pump. They also did the tracking too! Bare in mind however that mine is a 172 Cup without the complex aux belt assembly, so...
Which driveshaft needs a new boot - n/s or o/s? If it's the n/s, make sure you drain the gearbox oil beforehand or else it'll pee out everywhere once you pull the driveshaft out.
I also covered up the lower part of the inlet manifold to prevent any crap getting into the inlets. Perhaps a bit overly cautious, but i'd rather be safe than sorry!
At the moment we've loosely arranged to meet between 8:45-9 at the Stratton Motor Co. but that's subject to what time the Bury lot want to meet so it'll likely change nearer the day. In terms of numbers, I think markerboy2002 said he was up for travelling a different route so that'd make at...
I'll be heading the 'scenic' route (A140 & A143) with P17 TOO to Bury St. Edmunds, so you could meet me at Harford Bridge Tesco petrol station if you wanted to head that way. The other option is to join the people heading the A11 route, although I don't know exactly who's organising that convoy.
Make sure you get the original spacer, otherwise you'll fook the rear wheel bearing in no time. Part number is in this thread http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?547079-Rear-disc-spacer
I read somewhere that Ford are now rated the worst for rust protecting their cars, and if Fiat can produce cars that are still tidy after 10 years then there's really no excuse! I'd definitely go for a Fiesta ST over the Cio 200T in future providing that they don't rot like my Mk5 Fezza did.
Was that on Easter Sunday by any chance? If so, we were meeting there before heading out in convoy to Yarmouth for an official East Of England meet. Are you going to CSS? Quite a few of us from around here are going :)
Put some copper grease on the thread to make things easier next time you need to undo the nut ;)
If you come cross stubborn bolts in future, I seriously recommend Plus Gas over WD40. Apply plenty on the nut & bolt assembly in question and leave over night - bingo!
I'll head your way as the A140 and A143 route to Bury is a much better drive than the A11! :) I'd also recommend it to anyone else who is heading from Norwich, plus it gives BMW 3 series drivers more of a challenge to overtake if there are more of us!
Are we meeting the Bury lot in the Tescos...
In my experience they're crap; I got an RAC branded one as a Christmas gift from an ex-missus and it was able to clear up a couple of crumbs but nothing else!
