I did make a quick one last night but it's not very good, you can imagine how it goes though. It just dissapears into the distance in a cloud of dust lol!
Rapid is an understatement, not had time to find out, but since I've driven it for a few hours over this weekend I have a suspicion that this little red thing will sit on the back bumper of my evo up until three figure speeds. Weather it reaches 300 or not it's a proper weapon, proper usable power!
Three of us at the same place at the same time, took a few quick snaps on my phone, so excuse the quality...
Mine is the black one, AndyRG's the red one and Owens is the silver one, mine is the only one without boooost, BOO!
He tried. It was my pal fossie he did it with, no one would buy them coz they were bent. Then fossie wanted to swap for a set he had and he swapped without telling him, then denied he knew anything about it when fossie asked him what was going on. Even though he'd told potential buyers one was...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Will hopefully see you (try to keep up with you) at some events this year ;) I was with Andy at Oulton Park and Rockingham last year if you can't remember ;)
See you're already talking about more power, with more than 200hp and 200lbft available for more than 4,000rpm of the rev range and a peak of around 300/300 you don't need more power than that in a FWD car that weighs as little as a clio IMO.
To go for the next 'stage' of tuning you're going to...
You know what I mean.
I hate it when everyone talks all about peak figures. A couple of other forums I use are the same. The drivability of Andy's car is what is so good about it, usable power no matter what gear you're in and you're never very far away from a bar of boost.
Just had a little go of this tonight. Dear me it shifts!
It makes a bar of boost by 2800rpm and has a surprising amount of grip for a FWD with circa 250whp, gonna make a weapon of a car for Croft next month!
Frankly anyone who builds a 172 turbo and doesn't do it this way is a dafty :D
Went out with 'wor mate AndyRG this afternoon to get a few cheeky shots now his car is about finished. Few of the pictures are a little dark because it was just about dusk and I didn't have my tripod with me but nevermind.
Few little jobs to do on the red one which I'm sure you'll be able to...
They're alright them Cupras, but my god they're boring to drive LOLz. I had one a few years ago running similar power to yours and it felt lifeless, standard turbo is useless.
They can take abuse all day everyday though, just make sure you've got a MAF and a spare coil pack in the glove box :D
Bonjour lads, just purchased a ph1 172 from a member on here.
Got to say I'm fairly impressed, gave it a quick rinse tonight, will give it a good going over at the weekend.
Nothing special, just a clean ph1 :D
