Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

That would look truly awful lol Either one should freshen the car a treat. I hope 😅

Midlife crisis + understanding wife = New Toy

Ha! Well if that’s true, I’m glad to help inspire you. I hope that little car gives you as much enjoyment as mine has me. I absolutely love mine and seemingly know no bounds as to what it costs me to keep. Crazy lol. Wishing you all the very best with it. 😎👍🏼

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Thanks for the kind words man, glad you approve. I’m trying to add only high end upgrades that genuinely improve the car as an ultimate fast road package. Ive not totally discounted the low boost setup, but for now I really like the original build ethic of the car with is big capacity NA...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

I have to say they’re probably the best £11 quid I’ve thrown at the car so far. Such a significant improvement that I never knew I would be so pleased about. Lol.

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Cheers boys, I have to admit that’s a large part of my thought process of liking the period style emblems. I still think they look great and suit the cars vintage. However as Mr Blonde has kindly shown above, the clean lines of the 197 style is also really appealing and makes for a fresh and...

So, the age old badge question. I cant decide between the OEM 182 or 197 rear badges. I've purchased both so i can decide. Plan is to remove al the emblems and machine polish the tailgate before refitting new ones along with the "Clio" badge. I still really like the original design, and wonder...

Steering Rack Bushes replacement - Help! :)

This, however, do yourself a favour and tape the socket to the extension. As if this falls off, youll have a royal pain in the arse fishing it out of the subframe. Also make sure you keep the rack nice and level as it helps get the new bushes in. They can be done in about an hour by someone...

When is it time to call it a day?

I owned mine from 8k miles to 84k miles. Sold it for a Mini GP1 (Absolute H.O.S!!) #fail Took me 4.5 years to get the car back, bought it back on 111k miles and have thrown everything at it to get it back to as it was before. Like many of us, i dare say im fortunate enough to be able to have a...

When is it time to call it a day?

Spend the money, get the belts done and get it painted. Another car could be a few grand as it appears lovely on the outside and then need a good few grand on getting unseen issues sorted. 159k is sod all if the cars been cared and maintained. just enjoy it. :)

    Track day suspension

I've got a set of Northloop hubs to go on mine, (actually dropped them at the electroplaters today). I'm hoping these with the track rod cones will all but eliminate that and make the road manners even better. Josh Cook spec'd the ASTs especially for road at 70kg/40kg so should be interesting to...

    Exhaust mounts KAM or Powerflex?

Without doubt the Grams items with honeycomb core. Used both and the reduction of reverberation through the boot floor is significantly noticeable when going from the solid Powerflex item to the Grams.

    Track day suspension

Entirely fair comments Kev, given the budget allowed. Slightly off topic for the OPs usage. I've purchased a set of ASTs purely for the road as i believe this is arguably where higher end dampers come into their own. Its all well and good running super hard spring rates when you're driving on...

    Track day suspension

High end dampers will literally transform a car, so well worth what they cost IME. ASTs at £500 a corner for 5100s are the very entry level of decent quality items too when you're talking good quality dampers. Very much a "you get what you pay for" item.

    Sloppy Gear change

Brass bushes in the bottom of the shifter rod and renewing the plastic bush gearbox pivot bush. The pivot arm wears to so that's worth a look too. Failing that, it will be wear on the selector forks etc inside the box. Tiny movement at these areas is amplified quite significantly by time it...

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Seen loads of these in Essex over the last few weeks now. Personally think they look pretty funky in ST line guise and agree they're very colour sensitive. Grey or white with the contrasting black accents looks pukka as does the all black. Major slagging off by most of the non motoring press...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Wipers are just the cheap OEM ones from RPD. Not as nice as Bosch or PIAA but for £12 they’re fine. Will buy nice ones next time. Struts are ebay and absolutely superb quality for the money. From memory you had a Trophy wing so may want slightly shorter struts mate...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Few more parts arrived. New wipers, boot struts, ARB brackets, 197 RS badge and a cheeky keyring. Although still no time to spend on the car, I did at least fit the boot struts which make the tailgate feel like brand new. Well worth it.

Just to keep this updated. Hubs when they arrived, now stripped blasted ready for plating/coating. New SNR bearings on the way with new bottom ball joints and rod ends.

    106 turbo winter project

Wow some amazing progress on this. Makes you wonder how some people are let loose near a car! Some of that stuff was truly awful. You've done a great job at tidying what initially looked like a right dogs dinner. Looking forward to more progress :)
