Just read this thread from start to finish.
I remember taking my 8k mile old 182 out to the Ring for the first time, a place where it would spend a good deal of its earlier life. Loving your attention to detail and build ethic on this, its really nice to see with some carefully chosen mods...
Buy the best condition/history car you can irrespective of mileage, drive it and enjoy it.
Forget asking about mods until you've actually driven the thing and decided what "you" feel needs improving. For the most part it will be refreshing bushes, fluids, tyres and brakes.
Only you will know...
Lol, I’m sure you guys all know, but to those who don’t.
Grease on the valve collet grooves should stick the collets in and hold them firmly in place when releasing tension on the springs compressor.

Nice lap job fella 🙂👌🏼
So guys.

Are you guys all running the Gen1 steel versions of the PMS mounts or Gen2 alloy versions?
As said, I’ve got hold of a gen1 steel set but unsure if I should sell and swap to the newer variant.
Looks like Pistonheads are enjoying my 182 almost as much as me.

Like i said, I can’t comment on that and I wasn’t previously aware there was a problem as when I contacted him we didn’t get as far as talking payments.
However he can’t be the only person on the planet that can buy/supply these dampers.
With all due respect, they get talked about like they’re...
The trim restore coatings have UV blockers built in so they will last longer than the heat gun method. I imagine any from the top brands will be as good as one another.
Thank you Kev,
Yes i confirmed today with Nick that the bearing size/dimensions changed as well as the change in material.
Undecided if i should sell on the gen 1 kit i bought and replace with gen 2.
Quick one gents,
New design PMS top-mounts vs old. Is it just the material that have changed from zinc plated steel on the old ones to 7075 alloy on the new ones?
That all makes sense but why is a Clio PAS pump any more likely to fail than any other PAS pump?
I’ve spent more than enough time on track in cars with hydraulic PAS and as long as it’s kept cool, I don’t see the issue.
Whats different on a Clio that PAS pump failure becomes such a concern?
Forgive my ignorance but is it just to prevent power sapping that people swap to EPAS on these?
Or is it that the OEM system leak/fails on track?
Ordinarily i hate EPAS and any car I drive with it is always far worse in steering feel?
If its for power sapping, its it "really" make that much...
Wheel looks great. 😍
My Snappy wheel is still as mint now 9 years on as it was when it was done.
Can’t help but think those headlight/foglight bulbs are crying out for renewing with something a little whiter, they look like candles. 😅
Car looks mega though dude, great job.
Had a few other odds and ends arrive for WZD this week, some planned, some less so. Lol.
Won a brand new old stock front grille emblem for less than £8 which was a right result considering mines looking a little gravel rashed these days and they’re about £30 new from Renault.
2 sets of...
Tom,
Is there any powdercoat or paint on the conical seats of the wheels where the bolts sit?
If so, this is your issue with bolts coming loose. The bolts/nuts have to be sat on bare metal.
