You may remember when I replaced the radiator I found the AC condenser to be rotted through at the bottom.
So I ordered a new one, which arrived today, unfortunately our friends at FedEx decided to damage for me by bending the top row of fins by bending the brackets.
The distributor was superb...
Firstly I’d do what Eddie suggested about a clean up, treat and paint. If you have to replace it and have a normal welder you can just plug weld it where the spot welds would be.
Spot weld removal drills are available from Toolstation/screw fix etc.
Had it left over from the Impreza mate. Came from AP Racing years ago. Pretty sure Tweeks would sell it.
The Clio has no fixings to support the lines so it’s mega important you check they’re orientated to not foul on steering lock.
Added the wrap as a belt & braces. 😏
Hadn’t thought about converting the front, it was just the first thing I thought of when the rear ones snapped. The plastic for trees are pennies and I’ve a load of them, so I’ll continue with those at the mo. 👍🏼
Project lockdown.
So having cleaned and protected the front panel when I did the rad, today I wanted to pop the rear bumper off and check the rear.
Instantly turned into a longer job than expected as both the rear arch liner fixings sheared clean off. Great!! #facepalm
So I decided to grind...
You won’t need to paint those grilles dude, just get some Carpro Perl on there with a 4:1 mix. Mine have never been painted and are 125k miles old now.
Also now you’ve done a lovely job on the headlight lenses, get some ceramic coat on there, as they will have a UV barrier and stop them from...
I had mine done and bought a brand new fuel door for the hinge. As like you found the hardware needs cutting off in most cases.
The rear needs underselling I think to properly protect it in future.
Another job I did was add some PPF where the rear bumper meets the rear arch as this gets grit...
Honestly.
Probably not by a great deal if at all. However it’s my interpretation of what I want from a road going focused road car.
See the mods on the car as I’m sure you can see are all changes that can be enjoyed at all speeds. They’re all designed enhance everything we already love about...
Oh wow, I’d forgotten you were there that day too Rob.
And there are those fabled RX8s. @Greeny and I were talking about this just the other day. Those fellas made me open the bonnet to prove the car was stock 🤣
Haha. Well Dan you can at least see where this thread started and you’re probably the only person here that witnessed it as a totally standard car on track too. 😂
Lol 😅
I should also add that the addition of the Recaros means the rear seats are just for decoration now as you cannot get anyone In there now.
Nobody else ever rides in my car so this isn’t an issue for me. But there aren’t any tilting seats i like anyway.
Okay so keeping this thread up to date, my “road car” now has the following parts.
Inferno Clio 182 FF & Cup Packs
Engine:
ITG Maxogen air intake
BTM/Yozzasport cat back exhaust
PMS cat derestriction
PhilM exhaust mounts /stainless mount bracket holders.
Transmission:
Quaife ATB diff
PMS...
Well it was even, but evenly miles out haha.
Where the track rod extenders drop the TCAs down, they pull the arms of the hubs in and effectively toe the car out massively.
I did the camber with a spirit level clamped to the disc and got it to within half a degree of eachother. Still crap, but...
Titanium has pretty low rate of thermal conductivity. Widely used in shims to back brake pads and reduce heat transfer to the pistons and thus the Caliper body and fluid. I run titanium shims on my Cayman R as it’s quite popular with the Porsche guys who track their cars.
Personally if you’ve...
