Have you tried to play with the rear damper settings (i.e trying something very soft)? Are they leaking at all?
I take it the rear still has springs on the beam?
At Shakey my best time was a 15.1 in the Clio. The spec was as follows:
K-Tec Panel filter
Custom exhaust system bar stock silencer.
Quantum Remap
At the time I think my car had a rattling dephaser pulley as well.
My RST went .1 of a second faster down Santa Pod. Laughable when you...
That is the biggest issue. People think they are Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel. I am far from a great driver myself but that is something to be factored in.
With the few trackdays I have done over the years there was certainly some testosterone fuelled drivers there driving a little too...
Apologies for rising this thread from the dead but it is similar to my issue :).
Basically, my car drives fine. At low speed it will now and again cut the ABS in very briefly almost as if it is doing it on the wheel rotation. Above say 30MPH all is fine. The lights however are not on.
The...
Thank you for the suggestions and keep your experiences coming.
I'd have love to have gone for a PMS kit. While the price would have had me wincing at getting it I have heard that it rattles alot. If it is as bad as people are saying I would probably have to discount it on that reason ; the...
My Clio is slowly getting up to scratch but the gear selection leaves little to be desired. While it is not as bad as some Clios out there it is not great either.
The engine mounts seem fine, although the top engine mount could potentially do with changing (a specialist did give them the OK...
IME no throttle or WOT makes very little difference to the readings. But as said it is irrelevant in this case.
I reckon the gauge is kaput ; they are variable at the best of times. I know my gauge overreads big time. Most healthy engines make 250PSi of compression according to it or 180PSi...
After my Mondeo started dirtying the oil and sounding a little 'rougher' I went away from GSF oil despite it meeting the Ford specs. I heard a rumour that it was recycled oil but then alot of stuff out there is. Yes it has done 300k but I have owned it since 100k. The fact that the oil is...
+1 for City Powedercoaters. It will outlive almost any spray painted job ; a number of tyre places near me do not guarantee damaging the surface of the finish on painted rims ; I have seen the paint literally fall off with minimal pressure before.
I have not changed a rad but I understand it can be lowered from underneath with the rad support off.
However, I would steer clear of a cheap radiator. I have known of the tanks to fail on a number of them, and that is before you get to the core being potentially different. If not going...
The 'to do' list with my car is shrinking slowly but surely.
For quite some time, well, since I bought the car the reversing lights have never worked. Car parks have been interesting to say the least. I heard that the gearbox sensor was an issue here but I thought I would check the car out...
The 9887 is indeed Imprint ready and if you really wish to go to town I believe it can also take the older H701 and H901 processors .
I am trying to keep things simple however ; the 9887R is a great unit and a very flexible one out of the box. The 9855R probably comes close but the...
I guess anything is witchcraft when you are surrounded by bodgers and people wanting a 'quick buck'.
Maybe I have been unlucky with local garages I have been to but then on the flipside I have bought cars very cheaply where alot of work has been done via garages and specialists, only for me to...
I have done a few things recently.
The first included putting in another HU into the car. I have a lovely Alpine 9887R with a Bluetooth module but I did not wish to fit it for a few reasons:
The box for the BT requires fitting somewhere
I am saving it for the Escort RST ; some of the...
With the AC coming in, a mixture of driving and high speed motorway runs I have managed 35MPG with V-Power on a chipped 172. I may even had had a play with a couple of cars on that tank. I cannot complain with that really :).
The Escort RST? Around 24MPG ; Should I start doing more miles I...
Cheers for the thread. I am about to change the coolant myself :). However, does the bumper have to come off or can you simply remove the injector shield, bung in the clip releasers (I already have that too ;)) and drain it that way?
I am in two minds of changing mine ; there is no history of...
I think that is the biggest issue for most garages which is probably where the problems arise. When you can make more cash changing a set of EPB brake pads in the rear of a Passat, or doing services etc. a cambelt that takes ages will be quite annoying especially when the customers themselves...
I think the reason why people scaremonger is due to the following things:
The tools are not the cheapest, although one garage I almost went to claims the 1.6 Megane timing tools will do the job
A number of garages will just tippex things up and hope for the best ; I know that many garages near...
The pulling off the plug technique may not work if the misfire has stopped. It really could be a number of things (iffy MAP sensor or 02 sensor). How bad are your HT leads?
