Most new alternators require the old item to be given back in exchange. If the OP's car had an alternator damaged beyond repair it may possibly explain the higher price.
Honestly? Most of the time the generic code readers do not give out all of the codes. BTDT on many cars with VAGs seeming to hide more codes than others.
However, it would be interesting to see what code it comes back with.
Also I would not waste your money on Magnecor leads ; they are not...
Can you get Renault CLIP to work on this? That would be my first port of call.
I would have said the coilpack with your circumstances, but IME when a coilpack dies it literally does just that. It could on the offchance be a poorly seated HT lead.
Unlucky if you ask me. Clio 1*2s are not the sturdiest of things but they are not horrific by a long shot. Mine has been fine *touchwood*, and 2 other mates have been OK, albeit with minor issues over 5 years of owning them (I am talking fitting pattern balljoints and exhausts, ABS rings and...
Agreed with all of that.
OK, the other drivers were tools but being an arrogant C@*t never helps matters. Then we have people wondering what is wrong with people in this country. What a self righteous bully.
It is time to update this once more.
With this done it was time to push the car back into daily use. So far the MPG has been between 28-42MPG going via the tank to tank method. Over mixed driving biased towards town work 34MPG is not unheard of.
To be honest my car has been OK as a daily...
IMO I'd get a Bury. Their kits IMO are superior to the Parrots (not that they are too bad!).
If you fancy combining it with the HU my Alpine and 400BT 'box combo was fine. I currently have an Alpine CDE178BT but it is too soon to report on whether it is superior to the other setup I have.
Personally I would not touch a Scorpian exhaust with a barge pole. Within the Pug circles most of them required welding at some point ; to me that defies the point of a stainless system.
Powerflow are a franchise and as such the quality is a lottery.
The NS2-Rs on my RST are superb. They are not massively noisy either. In some ways I prefer them to the Toyo R888s ; I managed to overheat a set on my old 205 GTi around the 'ring GT track ; they were lovely until that point, but Christ the grip would not come back until ages later ; I...
IMO it is unfair to say that ;).
The PS3 was designed to be a premium car tyre with a sporting edge for Michelin. They have the PS2 for that and the development of that tyre, the SuperSport as their flagship sports tyre.
However, alot of the performance tyres are only available in at least...
I was about to say. I bought my Clio with new discs and pads yet they were useless. The cause? Rust beneath the plates. A specialist recommended me to bin them but I was reluctant to have clunky pads on the daily. In the end I ground the rust away, put some brake grease between the carrier...
This depends IMHO.
My RST is similar in use to the OP's Clio. One set of tyres went old before they wore out! On the NS2Rs however, I doubt I could choose another tyre on it for the money ; While the suspension and rebushing helps it is a fun car and a very grippy one to drive, more than I...
I was about to say! Gaz charged me £70+VAT to rebuilt the pair of rear Ledas on my RST. They did the job very quickly. Gaz may be able to rebuilt them as may Koni, but I have heard the same as above regarding the rebuild/new damper costs.
I was not going to ask on this thread but I cannot help myself.
Next year I may invest in a set of B14s with me currently running on stock suspension. In terms of coilovers I have tried the following:
KWv3s on a 944 Turbo - These were superb ; maybe a little more roll than expected but the...
Right, I am about to pay :).
However, do I go through CS for the track ticket or through CC's website ; there does not seem to be a track link present in the CS shop.
On another car yes ;).
There is not much in it to be honest. IME the F1s grip slightly better in the wet and the PS3s seem to last longer. Flip a coin and decide :). I probably will do the same thing come tyre time unless I go for Nankang NS2-Rs or Yoko AD08Rs.
That is interesting . My 944 Turbo was on KWv3s. It was stupidly fast in the corners over a stock 944 but it also (and almost on ocassions on the track ) felt like it would snap and bite hard if you cocked something up; The Clio feels surprisingly forgiving at the limit (albeit the...
From having two 'hot' hatches I have come to the same conclusion. My 944 was insane in pace in comparison to them but around the corners I probably would trust both of them more than the 944. I guess more power begins to ebb away the fun factor ; 70 came up very quickly as did three figures...
With a standard car a remap would make a difference since there is some leeway to play with regarding the fuel and ignition timing It has on my car! As soon as you start to go for relatively aggressive cams you will tend to end up with a trade off, with a lack of vacuum at the bottom end...
What he said :). I have had Magnecors not seat right. On my RST I have little choice with getting good quality leads so have to have the Magnecors...
Genuine and possibly Beru all of the way. Bosch leads IME tend to be so so for aftermarket bits.
How does the new Renault mount compare to the Powerflex item in movement? I am debating getting a lower mount for mine but most of my movement seems to be coming from the top mount at the moment it seems...
Depends. I have seen some poly mounts wear oval before on other cars, and in some...
The cams will make life hard at the low end. Throttle bodies and careful mapping may help bring some of it back. In theory it could be done without the throttle body but you would end up with a car that would become unfriendly to drive at the low end (i.e a jerky and unpleasant throttle...
There I was giving everyone my life history (well, far from it ;)) but there was only one mention of a Clio Sport! I always originally preferred the overall styling of the 182 but preferred the power delivery of the 172. When this car turned up it was potentially a little pricey according to a...
What car.crash said. On my dad's Mondeo the original leads started to play up at 180k. Sure they may have started going before then but I bet an aftermarket lead would never have lasted as long (I have rarely seen them do more than 30K)!
