I couldn't see a weld with the photos either, but I could not also see a form of a clamp either. Do you have a shot of the other side of the exhaust? Do you also have a shot of the cat you have obtained?
The dephaser does not always need doing but it does make sense to change it anyway and definitely if it is showing signs of rattling.
Out of the many independant garages I went to only 1 of them felt that my dephaser required changing as they could just about hear it starting to go. I initially...
I agree entirely with preferences and conditions. Although careful Mick, you've agreed with me :P. Marmite I guess is a good example :).
I was wondering if the OP had ever tried the original tyre pressure settings as a benchmark and then gone from there. I would have thought that the lower...
Here are more pics of the car from the same car :smile:;
From looking at yours it seems the way the exhaust was fitted has got you into a pickle. Did you install it or did somebody else? Somebody looks to have welded on your decat to the midsection instead of using a clamp. This could have...
Silly thing to say but aren't Clios meant to run more air in the front tyres as opposed to the rears? Whilst I appreciate it is a track car I have my tyres set as per book and the handling is spot on :).
What about the Bilstein B14 Coilovers? I reckon they have to be as good as the KWs.
I have KWv3s on my Porsche 944 Turbo and they transformed the chassis IMHO. People who drove it couldn't really tell the difference but I also wonder if they were not pushing it hard enough. Part of the issue...
Which Fiesta ST do you have? If it is the 2.0 ST150 they are a piece of cake to do an oil and filter change on in comparison to many cars I have owned!
Try it. With the undertray comes off there is almost no room to get to the oil filter from underneath short of tearing your hand to shreads or removing guards from the bottom of the bumper. OTOH maybe I have large hands but I doubt it! My 1.4 Clio was not much easier, proven by me tightening...
Well, I have some progress to report on the Clio!
It recently received a full service including all of the filters and oil. However, it has just gone into BTM to get the belts changed :).
Renault may not make them but there will be a difference in the quality of the filter supplied, and I did previously have proof. But here are two examples:
1) Dayco make the timing belts for Peugeot. A belt for an XU engined Pug will have a different number on it from Pug as it will from GSF...
So you have been put off the forum by us offering our experience and potentially aiding you in avoiding disappointment? Brilliant.
Remapping, suspension changes to cater for the power increase and other bits soon add up quicker than your think. Surely even you must be aware that remapping is...
The above are right I hate to say. I have BTDT with many many cars now including:
-Ford Focus 1.6
-Ka ;to be fair it was a lovely handler on the Ford Racing Kit
-MGB ;again it was great but it did cost a fortune
-Spitfire 1500 ;someone else threw a fortune; it was quick, but certainly no...
Jesus, I am tempted to get a set at that price. Hopefully the rears will last longer than stock items with the improved damper technology in Bilsteins that are B6 and above!
However, just how harsh are they compared to a stock 172 suspension setup and say a lowered Cup setup? I had Billies...
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say not to get the R888s. The NS-2Rs are a superb tyre from what I have seen on one of my cars even in the Street compound. If the rumours are true they should not give up quite so easily on the track either like the R888s. The R888s possibly have the...
I'd be tempted to go with MJR's offer. A previous owner spent that on mine.
Personally if you are keeping the car more than a year I would only go Stainless and custom if noise levels are a concern. Renault systems seem to last around a few years, maybe longer with pattern ones barely lasting...
Cheers for the comms :). The Escort is a lovely old thing. The engine bay may not be to everyone's tastes but the power deilvery certainly will be ;):
This car is a project for sure but are not they all? At least I am still entertained :).
Is that fitted or not? I am paying that fitted on my RST in 195/50R15. I shall report back.
However, what I have to go off are the Toyo R888s along with Toyo CF1s for track work.
If I were a betting man I would say that it is the oil filter. Many people seem to struggle to tighten them IME as a result of the location and not removing things which make life easier there. My first 1.4 Clio II leaked here. Failing that, I would look at the sump plug, the washer should...
How clean were the mating faces? Was the disc area superb clean?
How much play do the wheels have with everything fitted on , I am wondering if the bolts have bottomed out? At the same time have you spun the wheels to ensure that the wheels spin straight (i.e it does not look like they are...
That is quite surprising. I have never had M1144s (or heard of DS2500s) wearing quickly, if anything the disc seems get a harder time!
I not had a bad experience with Halfords pads mind you. Bendix pads and Brembo 'OE' discs however have been a joke lately, even on a daily.
How low have you gone exactly? Has the tracking been changed as of yet?
Upon checking ECP's site the TREs look the same for a 1.4 (I owned one before) and my 172... With that in mind I would be tempted to say yes for the bump steer kit. I take it this work as it does on VW Beetles (i.e it...
