That belt looks to be nearly new. I have seen a number of low mileage 1*2s where the belts have gone very shiny from age! I shall check how mine is routed and come back to you on the next part, but the 182s may have a different routing to the 172s.
From an initial look the routing looks OK...
Honestly? Quite a bit. It cost me under £30 with discount all in. After the faff I had on previous cars with pattern thermostats I didn't fancy doing the job again and buying more coolant etc.
It's very common unfortunately and risk of going aftermarket. Ford Mondeos are terrible for this. Ford specify 5 different driveshafts for the Mondeos depending on engine and gearbox combinations. Everyone (ECP and the like) only sell one, meaning that if you are unlucky enough to kill a...
If they are stainless bodies it will not be an issue at all .
How do they compare to what came off in terms of roadholding, comfort and handling? Is your car a Cup or not? I'm going with either going genuine Renault on mine next year or with the Bilsteins.
I forgot to say, I was...
It has been a quite one for me but I have been making progress. There is less to change on the car (Steering wheel if I am picky but it is not bad by any stretch, and maybe a front end respray, but again it is not that bad especially for it being a daily and maybe the top engine mount), it is...
As above.
However, what wrench do you have? A number will not fit without wrecking the sensors in the process. A fluted tool which sits on top of the filter of a stap tool (not chain ; it's too thick) seem to be the best ways to go about it.
Of course you can; go onto ebay :). Alot of cars I see for sale advertised as mint are far from that however upon viewing ; it took me 4 cars to get a car as clean as the Clio ; 2 of the cars were described as 'mint' in the adverts. I never knew that trim falling off or EML lights qualified...
I would say he is right @STEVE.M but people's perceptions of condition varies massively.
I remember one guy saying his Clio was like brand new but that his latest car was even more like brand new? How can you possibly comprehend that? It either is showroom fresh or it isn't!
The Clio was so...
Tank to tank or off the computer @T12 ? My Clio never matches the MPG on the computer. It has allegedly done 47.2 MPG but the most I have even seen from it has been 43MPG, not bad at all. Most motorway work will see me around 40MPH if I stay below 80.
The remap may have thrown the computer...
So you are looking at a Clio III?
If you are getting a Clio II I would look at a 1*2. My 172 is worse around town that my 1.4 was on fuel but it is far easier to drive, probably down to the remap. On a run there is no difference in MPG. I would say the 172 is probably not much more pricier...
I was quoted way less than that for a pump change I am sure. It was offered to be done for the price of the coolant swap and pump at the time of the belt change. I was told that if I did not change the pump then I was looking at aorund £150-200 IIRC which would tie in with your few hours.
We...
Do ClioTurbo change the oil when doing the dephaser pulley? I understand this is something @Fred@BTM and @MicKPM do perform when doing so.
That price is surprising given the time to do one and price of the bits initially ; over half of that cost has to be in parts alone!
I had people telling me my Clio was overpriced. I thought it was until I saw the state of some of the 'minters' out there for £1200 (how can a car be mint with kerbed wheels, a bit of knocking and the odd scuff around it? Maybe I am picky). I also saw people way £600 more for a car with 30k...
I have a Quantum Remap on my 172 but I have driven on a few occasions a stock 172.
If you had asked me years ago I would have said not to touch a remap. However, I loved the flexibility of my 172s after the remap. It doesn't really drive like a 2.0 engine TBH. It is not quite as torquey as...
OEM items from Renault will last longer than pattern stuff but cheap it is not.
I personally would not touch Scorpian after my and my friends experiences with them (the welds failing). People on here don't seem to mind them though.
If it were me I would either go for a quietish aftermarket...
I was quote £400 to get the belts done via a known and respected chap on here local to me. Seeing as my dephaser was gone it went up to £600. He told me that a Cup was around £50 cheaper.
@MicKPM quotes £495 for belts and a dephaser on a Cup which is cheaper than most places near me...
I have to ask, where did you get the HPI check from? Was it from Experian, RAC or HPI or some el cheapo place?
Finally, do you have the reg? Being a public forum you can forward me this via PM.
Before buying it I would check the logbook out TBH.
A true 225 ;). I have had my Clio and others on the same dyno as well:
The engine is not massively stock, being a 1.8 ZVH with other go go faster bits.
Despite my patience it spun up in 2nd gear, but it is not massively different on the road. I reckon it is lacking an LSD TBH.
I remember when I had a 1991 944 Turbo people thought I was loaded.
OK it did look better IMO than a stock 944 Turbo but still! With the Stag I had many people say it was lovely, although my response was generally a moan about it .
In the works car park both of my cars have been noticed.
Track days are often mentioned about the Clio. The Escort is just liked by most car people there :).
How much camber are you running? Both my RST and my old Focus were lowered 40mm, maybe a little more for the former. With the negative camber put on as a result the tyre wear was still OK with the toe set right.
