Cos Mk2s are rubbish :P
Nah, seriously, I'm not sure... They have Mk2s in Spec Miata but not over here.
Anyway - we were at Anglesey this weekend and had a fantastic time! 2 qualifying sessions, 3 races (1 wet and 2 dry), karting and pizza on the Friday evening, meal out on the Saturday...
Racing MaX5 again this year in car #28. 2nd overall last year and currently leading after the first round this season... long way to go though!
Our series is less 'competitive' (ie. requires less money to be thrown at it to get to the front) than the other MX-5 championships, so general...
The first number is the cold viscosity, and the second number is the hot one. So 0w40 isn't any thinner than 5w40 when warmed up, it just flows better at low temps. The w stands for winter, not weight (something I didn't realise for years!).
I used 5w50 in my Clio which got a lot of use on...
Thanks man. Yeah I do find it helps - quite a lot of work involved in getting the most out of the data, but useful.
We may well be on Motors TV again later in the year at Snetterton, yeah.
Sweet - nice one! There's a bit where I fell off the track that they caught :P But apparently most of...
A few people commented last year about the datalogging and comparisons I'd been doing, so thought I'd add some more this year, especially since I now have 2013 and 2014 data to compare... This could get pretty heavy, so I apologise in advance!
Basically I'd been looking at my data all through...
Well, this hasn't been updated for a while, but here's a short run down of the rest of last season and the winter...
- Did most of the rounds apart from Rockingham, kept oil in the engine this time and didn't have any DNFs.
- Ended up 2nd overall in the championship, but only really because...
Aah, I see. I'd be tempted to come along for a nosey and meet you guys, definitely, but not to race. Already had enough of being arse-raped on the straights and then nearly hitting the back of the car in front every corner as it is, we share our grids with Mk3s...
Yep, non interference engine, although have never heard of one go. Full cambelt kit is £50 and can be done in 3 hours on the drive with a normal socket set though if you wanted... Full set of brake pads and discs good enough for race use and enough brake fluid to flush the system for under...
My 172 Cup was great, but at your budget I'd go for a Mk1 MX-5 for a track car. Reliable, cheap consumables, loads of used spares available, lots of knowledge on the' 'net and easy to work on - that's what you need from a car that's gonna be flogged half to death for a couple of hours a day...
