Erm, it#s a 1.6 Eunos, some Koni shocks, AC and PAS broke so they got pulled out, 1.8 brakes, buckets / harnesses, the rest standard :)
Haha! Most of the kit cars went home at lunch it was that bad, so feck that :P
Yeah it was quality cheers...
Morning,
Here's my vid from a recent day at Anglesey, I think there were a few of you chaps there too?
First 2 mins are going sideways / nearly falling off the track, then it's a couple of laps (sideways at most corners):
Cheers,
Adam
Hello all,
Went to Rockingham on Sunday and made good use of the nice weather! First time I've driven the track and found it really good, nice flow and interesting. Driving wasn't great (too much 'chopping' at the wheel and odd lines at times) but had fun anyway! I blame the knackered rear...
Yeah, they all vary a bit. The R-compound tyres are generally a bit wider than 'normal' tyres, often with the 195 referring to the contact patch rather than the overall width, or having squarer shoulders. Raise her up and bit and you should be sorted :)
Thanks dude. Nah, it's just good feedback - it's only embarrassing if you have a team mate to compare with :p
Yep, I'm there! Sounds good, see you there then :) You might have to introduce yourself as Lt Columbo though... My memory is terrible.
Good stuff there chaps, cheers for sharing! The turbo cars disappearing at the start of Race 2 was funny.
Do you run a data logger or is it just a gps sensor for the lap times and track map? Just wondering what your braking and cornering Gs are like, the car looks to take quite a while to slow...
Cheers Euan! Just realised the pics are much bigger than the page displays, if you right click, copy image location (or similar if you're using IE / Chrome / whatever) then paste into a new tab / window you can see a lot more detail.
Jamie - we're at Thruxton 17-18th August if that's any good...
Now you mention it... yes, but only superficial luckily - seems the tyre / something flexed enough to make it scrub the return lips on the front wings, and pull them straight! The geo will need a full re-set now though I'm sure...
Any racing driver excuse for going off so much - these had...
Cheers guys - how did you get on at Rockingham Tony? Yeah the BRSCC MX-5 series (separate one) was there, looked like a good day :)
Thanks, and you too. Hopefully see you some time!
Anyway, here's my vid from Race 2.
Started 4th in a bunch of 6 similarly-paced cars, again cocked up the...
Summary for Donington 6th April: Qualified on pole, screwed up the start, made too many mistakes and finished 4th in race 1. Race 2 - again screwed up the start, went off the track quite a lot, finished 7th - but had an awesome time!
Well it's been a while, but following a cracking day at...
Looks quality and a very nice spec too! Plan to get it on track soon? The lack of power might frustrate you a bit at first but once you get used to how quick they are in the bends there won't be much you can't stick with on a nice twisty track :)
Edit: Do you know if it's had the geo done...
Looks like it's gonna be good when finished!
Have you signed up for the WSCC yet? Highly recommended if not, best £30 you will spend on the build. Lots of good advice on tap.
Another thing I learned very quickly with mine is that it's VERY worthwhile spending time getting all the controls...
It's a separate mic - Zoom H1 - but then you have to sync the audio in the editing software. If I had a roof I'd drill the housing yeah, but I think it'd be a bit dodgy in weather like that without one!
Cheers man. Blyton is a great little track - been there about half a dozen times now. Ideal to push hard with plenty of run off, good mix of corners, good value for money.
Haha, yeah, it was kinda funny at the time. I did feel bad afterwards though! I was sat in a puddle of water too so it wasn't just him :p To be fair you are concentrating so much you don't notice the weather, the main issue is lack of visibility (what you can see through the visor is worse than...
Hello all,
Yet another video from me... sorry.
This time at Blyton Park. Weather forecast was good but typically it was wrong!
'Timeline':
First minute or so: Going sideways
1:12 onwards: Some nearly dry laps, but tyres refused to get any heat in them.
6:05 onwards: Gradually wetter...
Looks like a few nice bits there Mike! Have fun building it.
I'm still waiting for a decent video of an R600 on track - I don't get why they are making all these rally videos of it, when nobody will use one for rallying... Edit: Oh I see, this is just one guy, they aren't official Caterham...
Sweet - well if you fancy it just give me a shout (my membership just expired but I think I can still receive PMs?). Somehow I've managed to end up with 3 of them (daily which is totally standard, the track one in the vid and the race car), so every base is covered! :o
Best thing is bolt a turbo or supercharger on - the engine was designed for it (for the Mazda 323), and there is a lot of knowledge around. Will cost you twice the value of the car (about £1800-2000) to do it well (reliably) though, which is why I haven't bothered...
Welcome to come and have a...
It was a bit :star:
It was! To be honest I think you'd struggle in the dry with half decent tyres and without a welded diff, they haven't got much poke. At somewhere like Oulton drift track (or your local industrial estate in the rain, if you are that way inclined) they drift absolutely fine...
