Yeah it was awesome - and I totally pooed myself when we were facing the wall at 3:00, haha.
The guy in the gold MX-5 is my mate which is why we were waving at him :p His grandad (who must be older than 80!) was in his passenger seat at the time and apparently he said 'Why did you drive over...
Nice one - I remember you guys buzzing round, quick lapping! Was tempted to say hello but I thought that would be a bit stalker-ish, haha.
Ah, not good. Stuck on speed bumps or something!?
Thanks dude :race:
Oof, that looks nasty. Be interesting to see some in-car vids if you have any, see...
Morning all,
Went to Cadwell on Saturday and had an awesome time! The rain didn't stop all day (and turned to snow by the end) meaning it was pretty slippery...
The first ~half is me (and others) going sideways / getting it wrong, then the second half is a couple of clear laps.
Cheers,
Adam
Ah, that's a shame (sort of - I get a lot of pleasure from spannering too so know how it can still be enjoyable)!
Harv, got any vids of your Westfield(s)?
Yeah he isn't using the standard gearbox. Great engine for this sort of car though.
Weird about the rear arches, but makes sense. Not hard to make your own tooling if you really really wanted some I guess.
There does seem to be a lot of people willing to put a lot of money into cars! Nowt...
You could make them though :)
I guess there is a point where it doesn't save any weight, but it's still cool. 500kg with a full cage is bloody good.
Mate of mine has an S2000-powered Westy with all carbon goodies including the shift paddles and bellhousing, seriously nice bit of kit! Think...
An inch? Wow, I didn't expect that. Will try and find myself some longer springs to try then.
Your car(s) must be super stiff with those springs, that ride height and Westfield ARBs? I don't think I'm good enough to cope with that, haha.
I remember the car actually, so pimp with all the carbon...
Yeah got bars front and rear, set to pretty much full soft, not sure of exact rates but they come well recommended. They are about 3/4" diameter and 1/8" wall both ends.
Ah really? Thought the sprint cars were running really hard setups to get heat into the tyres more quickly, their spring...
I don't 'know' him unfortunately, but know of him through the Westy forum if you see what I mean. The car looked awesome! Why do you ask?
Hmmm. The car feels good to me (although I guess I am inexperienced compared with someone like yourself!) and the calculations I carried out (and specialists...
Yeah she's not too slow :)
Are you still hobbling about with your foot in a cast? Reason I ask is that I'm possibly heading to Blyton on 17th March if you fancy coming?
Thanks dude. You know what you need to do about that ;) I'll pop a spec below...
Haha, well I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't remember anything coming past but there was some quick stuff there, few other Westies on slicks, Ginettas...
Love you too! Yeah I love it now, I was a bit 'iffy' when...
Thanks man. Haha, yeah it was a bit off-putting at points. Useful though, as always :)
Haha, you know I was thinking the same! Yeah man, sure, I'll probably post on the Nutz list when I get the next one booked.
It is a bit loud yeah... Made 100 at noise testing but they thought it was a...
Hello people,
Went to Oulton yesterday and had a cracking day! Done a lot of suspension / handling work on the car over winter and it's really paid off. Felt like a dog before but now it's a pleasure to pedal
Couple of vids...
Single lap (works out about 1:55.5 from Dentons to Dentons...
Start: Me doing it wrong
Middle: Data overlay, trying to learn to 'drive the circle' more effectively, harder than it sounds...
End: A few laps chasing one of the guys I race with in his standard MX-5 on road tyres, wiggling around all over the place!
Error! It'll be so filthy by the end of the day, haha.
Looks great by the way, nice little touches. If you plan to actually drive it rather than cruise around in McDonalds car park I'd leave the ride height as it is, on fun twisty roads it gets too crashy with really low suspension. For track...
Cheers. Yeah I quite fancy that too, need to have a look into it :)
Comparison vid... HD2 footage is from about 6 months ago, but without a passenger and about 20kg less fuel. Seems all the time is made up through Jochen and the 'Ump!
Hello,
Random little video from Bylton Park at the weekend, testing out Racechrono (for Android) and a cheapo eBay GPS doofer.
Worked out the car was running almost exactly 120bhp/ton (including fuel and passenger) so wondered if I'd be able to lap in 1 minute 20. Random I know :o But if that...
Classic thread, haha! Gotta love old fucked cars you can just rag the s**t out of. Mine is awesome too, we must have similar rear tyres, makes every roundabout an event, even at normal driving speed and low throttle...
I had a feeling that was the case - still - a turbo'ed 'Busa engine in a kit car certainly wouldn't be meh! In fact, it would give you more bhp/ton (over 600bhp/ton, given 80kg driver, 500kg car and 350bhp - I know of a couple of sprint cars down near 450kg and at 400bhp) than an 08 onwards...
Yeah, there were quite a few people poking around looking at it. The chap did say he was thinking of trying to sell kits, so maybe it's the same car...
One from a few years ago: http://www.miatabusa.com/
And another...
