I gave one some stick around Rockingham when they first came out (rather than quoting Top Gear) and really enjoyed the new VXR. My only criticisms were the horrible gearnob, the thick A-pillars and the fact it felt like quite a big, heavy car. Handled great though and was genuinely quick too...
The new Astra VXR is a good car.
I do laugh a bit when people talk about handling and criticise cars like the FN2. I'm sure people just watch Top Gear instead of forming their own opinion. I could probably take a corner faster than most people in my boggo Leon diesel. Chris Harris did a hot...
If you're unsure whether you'll like going from a Honda to a Renault, just go around your Civic undoing every nut and bolt you can find and remove a few cogs from the gearbox. If you like how it drives then you'll get along fine with a Renault.
The only real benefit for you would be the financial gain IMO, and perhaps more fun too... If you view a 197 pay extra attention to the gearbox as they're made of Cadburys Flakes.
Is that Craig Barley on the box? I've noticed that my car is 2 seconds faster to 60mph if I drink Barley water before I set off. Maybe you should try it!
Tyres don't matter, as long as they're stretched to within an inch of their lives and rubbing your arches they'll be fine.
Seriously though, I'm kinda glad in a way that you've been honest about the car as all my mates are trying to get me to buy a Golf Gti.
Well his garage is Subaru/Mazda and he'll probably do me some kind of deal being a mate etc, so maybe I should look at Mazda's lol.
Anyway, I won't drag this thread off topic...
Well that's written that one off then as you've confirmed my doubts. It won't be long before I'm riding shotgun in my mates Impreza's which won't help! The lad who's run the garage has a brand-new STI.
I'll get flamed for this no doubt, but what the hell... What are those 1.5's like? Gutless I'm assuming, but are they good reliable cars? Can't see me stooping that low though lol.
Thought I'd give this a bump (cheers @imprezaworks).
A lad I've started knocking about with runs Wolverhampton Subaru and seeing his and his mates cars got me thinking that maybe this is a new route for me to go down...
Once I've sold 2 out of the 3 cars I own I'm going to need a daily that...
