This post may seem like going back to basics but we are constantly surprised by the amount of people who do not know or understand what is written on a bottle of oil and therefore have no idea of what they are looking for, buying or using.

The 10w-50 from elf will be fine, an average quality oil.
If at a good price buy it but the best quality options are the ester based oils of Silkolene and Motul. Like all things, you get what you pay for... if your lucky.

We are asked all the time about the use of magic addatives / miracle cures.
This one is certainly no exception in its claims.
Having read about it, I asked Silkolene was this a miracle addative and were the claims possible or more importantly technically possible?
If you're...
The term synthetic is one big grey area when it comes to oil as many labled as such are in fact hydrocracked mineral oils.... hense the guy with the comma oil and impreza's, its not a true synthetic.
You will always pay a premium for synthetic oil for a few reasons, they are better, they cost...
The Castrol 0w-30 is really designed as a long life oil for BMW and VAG type engines, it shte way things are going and in the next few years you will probably see some french cars running around on this type of grade.

Guy.

Erm... we have streets, we have cars and often they are in stock form. Sounds like English to me.
We also have race tracks, and modded cars... some only used on track. So I guess there may be a small difference between the two and their requirments.
Basestock categories and descriptions
All oils are comprised of basestocks and additives. Basestocks make up the majority of the finished product and represent between 75-95%.
Not all basestocks are derived from petroleum, in fact the better quality ones are synthetics made in laboratories...
