10w-40 semi is ok for the DCI, but 5w-40 synthetic is a better choice.
For the gearbox we recommend this http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-981-fuchs-titan-sintofluid-sae-75w-80-synthetic-manual-transmission-fluid.aspx

Hi,
As per email it will be fine, we normally recommend 5w-40 and that is what I would go for next time, but as you have the 10w-50 use it with confidence.

5w-40 synthetic for the engine, loads of popular choices.
For the gearbox we recommend the Fuchs Titan Sintofluid here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-981-fuchs-titan-sintofluid-sae-75w-80-synthetic-manual-transmission-fluid.aspx

A 5w-40 synthetic will give you the best protection

Out of those, the best ones are the Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Gulf Formula G, Fuchs Supersyn and Mobil Synt S are good...
To be honest I'm not sure, but it should be fine. It's a little thinner than I'd go for, but not much. Amsoil ATF, Redline MTL and Fuchs Sintofluid are well proven choices.

Lots of brands are popular, but a good 5w-40 synthetic is what you are looking for.

The Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w-80 is GL4/5 and is renault approved so ideal for the job.
According to my records many clios such as the Clio II 2.0 16v are recommended a GL5 75w-80. There are many gearboxes out there designed to run GL5 fluids and there are many good GL5 75w-80, 75w-85 and...
It is thin when it's cold and that is probably when you have seen it, but that means it flows quicker around the engine when cold to give better protection. The 'general consistency' is not thin except when thin, as it needs to be an SAE40 at 100C or it isn't a 0w-40.
The oil doesn't really affect the output, sometimes you can gain a bhp or two by using a thinner oil, but for a road car, protection is more important
I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

The RN is one that's made for the latest Renault specs, for the cars with long life servicing and a diesel particulate filter. The SL is the one you want

When you register on the site, you select Cliosport from the drop down menu and that's 10% off. We had a free shipping offer, but I think that may have finished now. Give us a call as soon as you can and I'll sort it out for you.

The Halfords oil will be fine and will mix without issue.
Remember next time the Halfords is made to as low a cost as possible, using a proper/reputable brand will be better.

EPX is pretty cheap and chearfull but it will do fine :)
You can use 75w-90 but it can lead to a baulky shift when hot due to the higher viscosity.

At this time of year, it’s beneficial to use an oil that has good cold start flow properties as it will get to the parts of the engine that need it far more quickly when you turn the key.
The "w" number which means winter is the key here and the lower it is the better cold start performance...
