I Agree on the sills!
I'd replace them or
The other option is if you have that patch repaired properly and get some dinitrol to neutralise any existing rust inside. If the rest of the sills are solid! Then waxoyl once it's painted.
Putting a patch on it like that annoys me!
At least if you're...
Had a similar problem on my wife's ph1 after being laid up for a while under a cover it wouldn't start. It turned out to be one of the small black relays behind the fuse box. Cleaned up the terminals and ended up replacing all 3 but they're about £20 each from Renault.
It sounds like an outer cv.
An inner doesn't change direction like the outer. It will probably get worse as you use it more.
I'd do both as they are probably of similar age.
Not sure if you can just get outer cv's though!
Thanks @Marc jones I like it. Don't know whether to go anthracite? Got some centre caps for them now but not sure if they look better with them or not!
Thanks @Dannyeff
Shame I'm not closer.
Just make sure whoever does it butt welds the new pieces in. Not joggled and over lapped as it can be a water/damp trap as you can't really seal it properly from behind!
And waxoyl it afterwards!
Here's an arch I put into a mk1 lotus cortina.
It all depends on how bad!
If you were to cut out make and weld in a new arch could take a days work to get it nice. You do it too quickly and you'll have loads of distortion and a ton of filler to try and put it right!
I've been restoring cars for over 22 years and it's always worse than it...
It was only cheap because i could weld it up myself still had to have it blown in. I've seen them go for £40 on ebay. One ended the other day for £40 without selling.
He didn't know it was an alloy bonnet either everyone had told him it wasn't because it was rusting.
I hope Scott didn't charge...
I Bought a load of bits from steve, his alloy bonnet and Rh wing, vibratechnics engine mounts and solid dogbone mount, aircon delete, flocked Dashtop, tow strap etc.
The bonnet had a small corrosion bubble in the front left corner so i welded it up and had it blown in. ☺
I've got some 25mm...
My wife's had a similar problem it would stay at 2k rpm after a blip of the throttle it would drop back down.
It had been sitting for a year but after the 500 mile drive to ireland It seems to be getting better.
I'll clean the throttle body when I get back!
I ended up getting it from euro car parts. It was about £50.
I have seen them on ebay for £35 new. But I couldn't wait.
Did you try a throttle body yet?
I do have a spare if you were in the southend area over the weekend to try.
Sorry i forgot about you're accident are you still using you're ph1?
how many times have you run it? when i replaced my idle control valve i kept starting it and the idle dropped a bit every time i started it. i think it's the control valve getting to it's correct rest position so it"s almost closed.
