And so it begins. Getting there slowly, scrap pile building up nicely. It'll be a lot neater if anything, no more redundant plugs and wires hiding away!
Bets are on in the house that it's never running again lol.
I don't at the moment mate I'm about to put the feelers out to get some, hopefully a few people on here have them.
Cheers mate, yeah I'm the same can't be bothered with prep just want it done!
I planned on prepping it good mate but ended up just wiping the main oil residue off and then spraying with the hamarite direct to rust. I wasn't expecting great fun finishes but it's surprised me turning out really good especially with minimum prep!
Yeah i remember you saying that in your...
Bit more out today. Removed the heater and blower system. Ended up cracking it removing the dash bars so that made my mind up! Removed the alarm system also, I've got the loom indoors now so will tackle that in the coming weeks. Just the back bit of the cage and a couple other bits and the...
If mines works after it then of coarse haha.
Na heaters definitely coming out. After seeing stus silver one with it all removed i loved it! Will be using a small electric blower for the windshield. Quite surprised you haven't removed yours, weighs more than a few wires lol.
Boredom Update
No shiny new parts or anything I'm afraid. Took a picture the other day of the engine bay outside for the first time in ages and i nearly cried looking at the state of the rocker cover etc compared to how it all looked when i first put it all together so decided to give it some...
You'd need a shorter belt to compinsate for the removal of the pump. The part number for the belt is '5PK 847'. It's a Volvo belt I think I got mine off EBay.
You then need to loop the middle part of your rack, I'm sure I have the loop in my garage somewhere or you can get someone to make it...
Awesome car mate looks very purposeful!
What paint did you use for the cage feet and did you prime it first? I need to do mine noticed them getting some surface rust today!
Yeah standard rack. However I didn't like it manual as it felt very unresponsive when you turned the wheel so I got a Saxo pas pump that sits in the scuttle and runs off just power no belt. It's also just 2 rubber hoses that run down the back of the engine nice and clean.
As Fraser said you...
The pipes can be a c*nt Liam, I ended up cutting mine at the rack end to get a socket over it!
I just ripped the lot out and made a simple L shaped bracket to support the alternator. It then runs a shorter aux belt which you can buy online.
After that you can go EPAS if you wanted.
I think I might when the belts need done, I had to just throw this engine in with old belts and risk it for the last track day. I wish the 197 manifold would fit as it looks great!
Other engines been scrapped Craig, bottom end gone and leaking oil through the head with crazy pressures wasn't worth the risk. The plan was to just bolt the supercharger on to the standard engine.
Plans looking to buy a house next year now though so I'm not aloud to buy a charger so unsure if...
Well no exciting updates on the car front. Got bored the other day and picked up some old headlights from the scrappy and made some blanks along with some black mirror covers, the things you do when your not aloud to spend money lol. I've ordered a rectangle duct to fit in to the plastic also...
Good work, Id love to remove all that just for the simplicity reason but would 100% end up removing I shouldn't!
Did you follow a wiring diagram I take it?
I thought bilsteins were great! I had refreshed my entire suspension though so not sure if this helped. For anyone not racing though I can't see why they'd not be good enough...
