Depends what size turbine wheel is fitted, the 60mm wheel has a much better flow capacity than the 56mm wheel. But my point is that the 71mm compressor paired with a 53mm turbine wheel found in the GT2871R is poor, yes it does work but no where near as effectively as the smaller compressor found...
OK then the compressor wheel can flow considerably more air than the turbine wheel can cope with, I believe in the turbo world it's called a mismatch. As such when people choose them over something like a GT28RS they are normally left scratching their heads wondering why it isn't massively more...
Megane 250's have VVT as well.
Hope you enjoy changing gearboxes! As with that kind of torque and the usual agressive power delivery of a megane set up you'll be destroying them on the road, never mind the track....
Anyway welcome to the 300+Bhp club :D
Yeah that's me mate, still have the Trophy, as a few of the lads (and girls, CA ;)) know it's away getting a new fancy turbo set up done. When it's finished it'll be the most extreme, standard looking Clio 182 ever. If carlsberg made Clio trophys this would be it, think six speed LSD and 500 Bhp :D
Mate your way of the mark, without going into detail a bigger turbo will flow more air at a given pressure, for example my car with a gt2560r turbo made 267bhp@21psi I swapped turbos to a gt28r and it made 341bhp@14psi
I ran mine in on mineral oil. Don't bother bypassing your turbo as you could risk over spinning your turbo. Simply remove your actuator so your wastegate is open, which will allow alot of the exhaust gasses to bypass the turbine wheel.
As for using a stock ECU, I wouldn't personally. injectors...
Well I do need some experimental CR pistons for my new build so I suppose I could have them coated as well :D
Edit* I'll get my coat after failing to read the OP twice despite the gentle hints from Fred above LoL
I had mine done mate just to try and keep the heat away from the brake lines that run near the turbo location, also I suffered some heat soak into the PAS lines.
I had my turbo manifold, turbine housing and down pipe coated and was quite happy with the results. Obviously it was still hot to...
I had my crank, flywheel, clutch, rods and pistons done. Pretty sure they balanced the rotating assemblies and when the weighed the rods and pistons there was a negligible difference (think .2grams). Didn't give them a block or anything just the bits mentioned.
Mate I'd suggest re routing your lines, I had a similar issue and despite having each individual line heat wrapped then some nimbus heat shield covering the whole bulkhead, I was still boiling both brake fluid and PAS fluid when out on track :(
Loving the "Can do, will do" attitude though...
Good effort lads, any idea how much of a CR change it causes?
Think you might find the standard 197 cams a little too wild for a turbo conversion, especially at the boost levels your likely to run on stock internals.
LoL it was supposed to say 300 lbs/ft, TBH I didn't have any issues with mine at 340bhp and 315lb/ft. I think a lot depends on the mileage the box has covered and how it's been treated.
The gearboxes aren't that bad upto about 300bhp ish, beyond that and your really getting into territory that destroys gears and cracks casings. There are some mods out there but they come with varying success.
One mod (and I'm guesing its the one fitted to MSO's car) is a bearing brace, item...
I'll be honest it's only really the jenvey plenum thats anything new to tuning an F4R engine. I know of at least three 5 GT turbos that have F4R lumps fitted along with tubular manifolds that have the turbo above the gearbox.
What are they planning to use it for? just as a static show car?
Thats a real sickener mate, hope everything goes well and you get back on the road asap. My friends little sister had a fit and lost her license for two years, just as she was approaching the two year point she had another fit and they extended her ban :(
Nah not that much, I'll leave those kind of figures for Scoff, but it'll be 400bhp+ easily. My old turbo system is long gone now, I stripped the car down in Jan for it's new build but ended up needing an OP which put me out of action for 4 months :( it was supposed to be ready for RTOC national...
