Woops I forgot to attach the video to this thread.
Car is now going into winter hibernation in a barn 50 miles from me. There are a few things I need to get done on the car before it's next outing and MOT but they can all wait. Next update way into 2016!
Yes boi! I've had one in two different Clios and it's certainly worth it. Teamed with no A/C it makes a decent difference. Engine revs much more freely. I'm also going to be getting one when I can afford it.
Car is of course looking very well!
Surprisingly not very fast. I was a bit surprised.
Cheers James, it is James yeah? Great tips, exactly what I was after. That druids line did feel a bit weird I have to say so next time I'll give that a go along with the curb at Graham Hill. My instructor (not in the car in the vid) said going...
Evening chaps.
Massive thanks to @Martin. for letting me borrow his go pro and then kindly putting the video up.
Had a great time at Brands on my first proper track time and had about 20 mins of tuition so am much better than last time. Here's the vid but more hints and tips on gears, turn in...
Mine are bolt in yeah although I would prefer to have clip on ones. It came down to cost though. I haven't got a photo! the only one I don't have. They're on the angled part of the tunnel close to the rear seat box. I'll get some photos as soon as I can but the car is garaged up ATM.
Yes...
Quick get out there! The booking made me get mine finished despite the final rush being horrible
I used these for the insides and then bought just the spacer on it's own for the outsides...
I have to say this is easily the most impressive thread on here because there are real craftsman skills being used. I'd love to be able to weld and have the equipment to do such brilliant customisation.
Hats off.
Brands Hatch :D
The first track day happened finally and oh boy was it good.
I'll start with the build up to Brands. The car was nearly finished after the last update and so I booked my first evening session for the 28th although this turned out to be the biggest stress ever.
Saturday just...
lots of stickers on one 182
silver 182 with a plastic rear window and saftey devices cage
black 182 with white TDs
black 172 with gordini turinis
@SamHowell saw your car up there I think but not sure.
@Mike@Rentech @NorthloopCup cheers guys. I'll get the loop off later and try it. That would make sense as I had to move the car around without the loops of bung in as I was waiting on parts.
How much fluid needs to be in there as I drained quite a bit out of it :S
Finally finished my cup today although when I drove it there was an extremely odd sensation from the steering. Whether the EPAS is on or not the steering feels loose for about 20 degress (each way) of steering wheel movement and as soon as you get past this point it becomes much harder and has...
Glad you get lots of use out of this Mark. It's nice and clean for a track car! Do you run your stealth with a decat. I've got the super sport on my cup with a 182 mani and decat and have no idea if it's going to make the 102 limit
Just do it yourself. The soldering really isn't hard at all and actually quick a good job to do as your first one. Maybe you could get a set of old clocks to practice on first although I just went in straight away and didn't have any problems.
Thank you for all the nice comments chaps. Today didn't go quite to plan and I had a bit of a lazy day. @Martin. popped over this morning on his way home so we went out for a spin with me as passenger because I'm not actually insured on the car, my rents are. DOC cover is a wonderful thing and...
Brilliant evening none the less. Can't wait to get them both out next month so we best get mending yours and finishing mine.
You mum is quite an avid photographer!
@sonny172cup good to meet you yesterday mate.
I think this is a case of trying the cheapest things first. If the engine/box can be moved over a bit then that's the first trick. Second would be to try a shorter driveshaft as the shaft. Really Mart needs to look at the angle of the shaft to establish what's happening under compression and...
Update time.
Claude made it, through seven countries, up mountain passes, round the nurburgring, 110 on the autobahn and 2400 miles........relatively unscathed although it was a serious hammering and has certainly bought out it's defects.
I'll put up a holiday thread in General Chat but to cut...
Well I barely got anything done to the car this weekend because of a few hiccups with parts. The little spacers for the harness mounts are marginally to large but not deep enough to fit in the harness fittings. I'll sort that out with mr drill soon.
I did manage to get the battery relocated...
Mr rep here.
My advice, get a body kit in the colour of your car. It will save you time, money and hassle with paint issues.
182 exhaust will look silly unless the car is the same registration year as a 182. It's also a lot of money to spent on an exhaust for just a "look"
The plug for the...
