Car went in for its MOT today. It's failed on low handbrake force and rear passenger caliper binding along with seriously corroded inside of the same disc and inside pad down to metal.
So that's 2 new discs and pads for the rear, 4 new conti 5's plus fitting to add to my bill this month.
So...
I've never heard of anyone using the rstuner on the 197 and whether or not it gets rid of the flat spot. Fingers crossed for you it does as it's much cheaper than a map from RS tuning.

So...to update.
First off the issue was actually corroded CAN wires down behind the back of the fuse box. These eventually broke and this is why the car wouldn't start again. All these were fixed on Thursday. So Thursday evening I collect the car. No issues and even my aircon had started to...

Yeah that's what I thought at first but even hooked up to a stable power source it's doing the same thing.
Ignition brings the rad fan on, headlights and shows 4 doors open on the dash and that's it

Since the day I spent on it with him I don't think he's had chance to look at it. If he doesn't get chance today I'm going to get it collected and taken to a different garage that has time to look at it. I need the car back.

@bloke
You know, the "will be an easy enough one to find" is exactly what the auto electrician said! Spent a full day on it still and couldn't figure it out (not just a random auto electrician either, work on 197's and does turbo conversions at the garage).
But nope. I also forgot to...
It's still with the auto electrician. He was going to have a look today but I don't think he's had time. I'm beyond fucked off with the car at this point tbh. If I ever manage to fix it I'm seriously tempted to stick it up for sale. I'm having to get taxi's back and forth to work or steal...
Having serious issues with the car. It's been off the road for 2 weeks now. Any help appreciated in the thread below

So I've had a bit of an issue with the 197.
First off I was driving home and the "ESP Deactivated" warning came up. Thought nothing of it and assumed it was a dodgy sensor or ABS ring. Then I got "Brake Fault" followed shortly by "Steering Fault". All this time the car was driving fine aside...
197
bought a mk3 to stop spunking money
brake fault
dead car
low battery
pos
replace all the parts
steering fault
still has the gay spoiler
won't start
Just wondering if anyone know whether a 225 alternator will fit onto the 197. I've been told it does and I can get hold of one much easier than I can a 197 item.
Anyone?
@Scrooge @Budgie
Nothing too interesting to report. MOT is due early in May and I need 2 new tyres, inner tie rods and MAYBE a windscreen, need to check if the crack is going to fail or not.
As the weather was hot recently I discovered that although my AC says it's working, it's not. It's got the common "cold...
Looks lovely and I'd love to stick an R26 engine and box into mine. Although questionable choice on the T1R's on a 300bhp FWD hatch when they struggled with under steer and poor wet weather performance on my sub 100bhp fiesta.
Plan today:
Clean car, drive car, doss at a friends unit for the afternoon.
This unfortunately turned into clean car. Drive to dovestones. Do 5 minutes of the journey in 25 minutes, do 25 minutes back to the start, then get pissed off and go to the unit. Exhaust is still rattling on...
You made the right choice going that way. I headed out over dovestones today. RAMMED! I went straight on instead of heading to meltham and turned round at the huntsman as it was a waste of time. Took me 20 minutes to get back to dovestones!
Not only that but if your tracking was a little bit out before, adding the spacers will make it more noticeable as with the wider track they want to follow the camber of the road more.
Has CS gone mad. Almost every comment has something negative in it!
This car is stunning and ridiculously clean and everyone making comments about the tiniest of things can't come close to saying their car is as good an example as this one. Mental.
Superb work, although there are some rusty...
Looks lovely Jerrr. What engine is in these? I really don't have a clue when it comes to MX5's. Those recaros are lovely btw, and the recaro's that have dodgy bolsters are the Sportster CS which is in the Mk3 Clio, and it's only the cloth ones tbh.
Get a rear ended R26 and do an R26 conversion. You get a better box, LSD and all the rest of the kit you need bar getting some intercooler piping done, coolant piping and a few wires need swapping on the clio car loom to mate with the R26 ECU
If you can't do the work yourself don't think that going to a regular garage will be cheaper than a specialist. It won't. Always take your car to a specialist.
