You cant stop the build-up of brake dust and the like but you can help it not bond to the wheels so it washes off easily with just soapy water.
I use Poorboys Wheel Sealant topped with Chemical Guys Blitz spray sealant and then a durable wax like Collinite 476 etc etc

I dont own one but heard not bad things about them, I think it's the same as any lance really... just an inch of snow foam and topped up with warm water. Don't quote me on that though!
