Haha I might get good but too much of repair and servicing work to do detailing as well. Wife would not be happy if I started working weekends again!
Only reason I've got this weekend to do my car is down to her having a training course for her counciling career. Supprised I don't have a bald...

It's all back together and runs really nice , always a worry with any used engine after all the work done.
New oils and so on done , new rear axle brake pipe and a cv boot ready for its mot retest Monday.
Fitted a set of Phillips daytime running lights in the bumper which I got for a fiver ...
pistons are fine other than damage from dropped valve. Cut-outs on the pistons for valves is normal.
Thats a valve failure on your engine, other pistons have been damaged via bits from the failed cylinder.
Well Macs back and on tablets for his heart so got him cracking on the 182 , he stripped the front end down and got all the shafts and so on out for me, I removed the old engine after work tonight fitted a new cambelt , waterpump , clutch and so on .
All ready to be fitted back in tommorow and...
I get rid of old items ASAP unless asked to keep. Scrap man is round daily and I don't get any money for my scrap just gets it out the way.
He may be able to ask the scrap man for it back as they normally separate the different types of metal for maximum money's.
Search for dropped a valve...
Cambelt etc can be perfect if a valve is going to fail no one's going to know until it happens.
When the heads removed if it's just one cylinder damage that's the cause.
If other valves are bent on other cylinders then that's more likely to be a belt or pulley issue.
Sadly Paul no won't have the engine in by then.
My apprentice Mac has just come out of hospital with a heart condition so don't know when he is back so I'm by myself for the foreseeable future.
My something else now it's all paid for...
Blue 182 (:
Just got a fit this now.
Busy at work at the moment so might be a couple of weeks before I get it fitted.
Up for sale from Friday ...
£550 no offers covers car and recovery fee I paid.
Car needs engine , or 1 piston and a head.
Something else turned up today so engine I got for this is going in the something else.
I'm going with springs , exhaust , induction kit and alloys once I get mine up and running.
Hopefully all used parts as well. Spunked thousands on my old flamer no way I'm doing that again.
Bit of a longshot, look under the glovebox and you will find the uch , make sure the ignition is off, disconnect and then reconnect the three multi plugs to it.
Worth a try.
I needed a RS Clio fix, been ages since I have owned one and finally got a 53 plate 172 for £500 with a possible broken belt.
Got picked up a delivered to me at 3pm today, ripped the head off it and then took the cylinder head off the clio...oh dear !!
Replacement engine time, droppped a valve...
I can do nearly all of them with the clip, but I have never worked out how to get around the configuration error you sometimes get from certain models of airbag computers.
I'm sure if your airbag light is blanked out it's a pass and advise on the mot anyway.
No guide needed already on YouTube. ..

Not tried pissing about with the code from a dump file , so can't say if it can be erased or not. You can get chassis number , immobiliser code and so on from it.
Not worth the hastle if it's just a swop over.
Same thing with...
All the configuration and codes are stored on an 8 pin chip, can't remember what it's called . EEPROM if I remember correctly.
You can grab a dump file off it with a chip reader and put it on a new chip.
Easier just to swop.
If I get time I might do a guide to post up on how to do it.
Only way to fit a used one is to remove the chip off the used unit and put the one from your original unit.
It's only a surface mount chip and if your anygood with a soldering iron should take around 20 to 30 mins to do.
Done loads of them with around a 90% success rate.
