Yes they will, you need to set up the mesh network though with them being close. I've done it once and can't remember how I did it but it works. We only hardwire boxes.

It'll be a new battery needed. Common fault, even though it reads 12v when cranking it drops to low and the car won't start. I've had this happen on mine and two friends before and new battery solved it
