Been over a year since this was updated so thought I would post something while I'm bored...
I guess buying & renovating a house puts a damper on playing with cars, but we've still been tinkering away in the background!
The Clio's biggest weakness has always been the dairy milk standard...
Tank cover is all now complete and back together - happy with how it's turned out and is much more functional than the previous one we made.
New Bilstein Group N suspension is finally on all round and everythings bolted up again good to go. New top mount bearings pressed in and re-fitted as...
Not a lot in particular! Fancied doing something different as don't mind 'faffing', at the end of the day this is much more secure and fairly confident this weighs less than the plastic tank with a proper guard so COG isn't really going to come into play here in the grand scheme of things. It's...
Other stuff in the pipework for upgrades is the suspension which will be up for sale in the near future if anyones interested. To swap out the Gaz Golds we've decided on going for some proper rally suspension in the form of the Clio Group N Bilstein setup. The Bilsteins I'm hoping will be much...
Not updated this for ages as usual for some reason!
We've been using the time spent in lockdown with no events on to do some upgrades to the car.
First one was we never really were a massive fan of the fuel tank firewall, due to the pain in the arse it was always to remove and not really being...
Thankyou!
It's not no, still in two minds to sell all the bits or eventually build a second 'proper' engine up slowly out of the car to replace the current one.
So much to our amazement everything at EFI went to plan yesterday and looks like we've got a strong engine!
The car made 191Bhp/165Lb-ft which I'm chuffed with for an engine that's only had AT Power ITB's, Group N timing & 225 Injectors - with no port work etc.
Chris said the cams & 172...
Interior of the car has been freshened up with a few patches of paint here and there and is looking good as new again after much trampling in and out of messing with wires.
Messy extinguisher pipes are only temporary as they will be removed and replaced neatly with a brand new kit from SPA...
Pretty much finished up the wiring jobs yesterday at the car. Managed to finish the second loom thanks to the lockdown and surprisingly everything on that one works too!
Very impressed with my planning of everything , did final tests of everything yesterday and everything seems to work...
Awesome work so far, very jealous of the engine spec was speaking to Tom the other day about it.
Is that external machining of the block the only 'modification' required to fit the dry sump setup then, or is there more internal work needed like blocking off galleries etc? Reading this has made...
Yeah already had a few people asking for various bits, steering wheel panels, EFI looms etc. Definitely got 2 to make that are in the pipeline... busy busy!
I've done the first 2 wiring courses on HPA, they're well worth the money imo.
I managed to build from scratch a loom to suit an Omex 600 for my Clio and it is seemingly running with no issues so far, pending mapping...
The first course basically just goes over the basic principles of wiring...
Also fitted a new BRT Motorsport quick rack which I appear to have completely forgotten about mentioning on this blog, a good couple of months ago now 😂
Hence the need for re-alignment.
Fixed the small misfire was a dropped injector... again, so changed it for a spare and now runs lovely. Sounds so good with the ITB's!
Finished & fitted a steering wheel panel that I designed & made completely from scratch.
Started with a Grabcad steering wheel model, drew up a panel around...
Cheers mate, unfortunately sold the setup a few months back so can't measure any of that. My servo is covered by a heat shield also and not really accessible to measure either from memory - sorry I couldn't be of any help.
Cheers mate, not sure if we'll be out this year tbh. Will all depend on funds as don't want to skint myself finishing the car off. Although it would be nice to do one late in the year - perhaps Anglesey or Oulton Park.
New coolant hoses fitted now, along with a new custom offset lasercut baseplate and custom height ITG filter to allow perfect fitment around everything in the engine bay, letting the filter and throttle bodies breathe.
Also fitted a new stainless braided breather hose to the catch tank after...
Came extremely close to starting the car with the new loom & ECU yesterday.
Turned over fine, everything had power that needed it, but wouldn't start up. Ran out of time and as soon as I got home I realized I'd put in the wrong values into the crank trigger pattern table 🤦♂️😂 Will sort this at...
Hey, thankyou. Yeah I have it's in the car hopefully can get it all set up this weekend if I have chance. Should be fine Omex sell an adapter loom plug and play to retain the OE dash etc, give them a call they're extremely helpful.
Sorted all the parts for the dry sump, decided I'm just going to fit it while the car is still half apart - may aswell. Then worry about the oil tank and lines after.
Got a couple of days off work on holiday so I'm making a CAD model of each individual part of whats needed for the conversion to...
Excellent I'll see if I can find out the dimensions of the pulley and get one made. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be to sort all the bits for this dunno why I didn't do it sooner😂
Cheers for the help mate. That makes sense! Is the toothed 'trigger wheel' like thing attached to that pulley needed or not? Can't think what it would be needed for
And bought this from R-Sport today to complete the puzzle! Will remake the baffle plates as they're a bit battered.
I think theres only one more thing, the crank pulley attachment - but unsure if that's actually needed or can just use a longer aux belt 🤷♂️
Bought some more bits today
@NorthloopCup
Think I've sourced the pickup pipe and connecting piece too so I think that completes the set! (Bar pipework & tank)
Will make my own replicate baffle plates on CAD and get them laser cut
