Put the drivers seat in yesterday to finalize the location of the switch and relay panels. Once Alex fit that I drilled the holes for them both and riveted them down. We also begun tidying up the wires and fuel lines that we'd put in the car - and fitted the new gearknob which is much less of an...
Gonna save us a hell of a lot of money yeah!
Nope nothing mate, Alex's dad said the guy owed him a favour - he let him keep one of his banger racing cars down his lockup for years for free so probably just repaying him for that:blush: Will probably get some stickers done of their business and...
Pete has known someone for years who's got a painting business, he rang them up yesterday to ask them for some advice on paint prep for the car. It's obviously not ideal as the workshop where the car is is full of dust and dirt so he just wanted to ask what the best way forward was. Whilst he...
Our key began to play up after removing the key barrel (even though it wasn't plugged in) and we now have to press the key twice in order for the immobiliser to turn off. Therefore we've decided it's a good idea now to send off the ECU to EFI to get the immobiliser removed before anything else...
Regulator is mounted now and just needs plumbing in, done one side of it and the other fitting we need has arrived today so will get that on tonight. Also awaiting on delivery of a pressure gauge which will fit into the side of the regulator.
Whilst we've been waiting for our radiator to be...
Managed to convince our guy to weld the mounting straps on the radiator now thankfully so whilst we're waiting for those to be welded on we've decided to focus on getting all the polycarb windows finished. Tonight I drilled all the all the holes for the rear windows and riveted them in with a...
Fitted the catch tank today using the bracket we made yesterday and connected up a pipe from the oil breather. Need to fit a small breather filter now to the other outlet when it arrives.
Alex finished painting the manifold today too, it looks so nice
I've also finished the...
It's just to the right of it ye haha, I need to get some nimbus type stuff and make a heat shield at some point when the cars done - bit tight on funds atm unfortunately or I'd of done it:sweatsmile:Plan is to sorta bend it round the engine to the right so that it covers all our brake lines...
Put both driveshafts back in today with the new nuts that came with the ball joint kit and fitted the ball joints to the wishbones along with the track rods to the hubs. All the front suspension is now bolted up so we put the wheels back on. Loving the ease of the stud conversion already... hate...
Fitted the top mounts to the car yesterday along with the coilovers etc. Really pleased with the fit on them and can't wait to try them out they're really well made and a good design imo.
Connected the brake lines back up and re-screwed the fittings into the calipers.
Changed the oil and...
Had a really productive couple of hours tonight managed to get a few things done.
I began by rebuilding the calipers. Firstly, taking out the pistons, cleaning and re-greasing and fitting new seals with red rubber grease. I then cleaned the sliders that I fitted back on yesterday and greases...
Thankyou! Got the week off work so I'll be heading down every day after uni to do even more :grinning:
Solid top mounts have just arrived so will try get them fitted tonight
Fabricated the top radiator mounts today as described in the last post and attached them to the rubber mounts. Also began fitting the coolant hoses to make sure everything was fitting nicely still. Ordered some new stainless steel jubilee clips for the coolant hoses as the original Renault ones...
Fitted the 10.9 wheel studs into the hubs today with blue loctite.
Alex also finished painting the thermostat housing and front calipers front calipers, tomorrow - when they're dry, I will build them back up with new seals and regrease the pins.
Also began fabrication of the radiator...
Got bored this evening so made a spec list of the car including bits we haven't done yet and or are in the process of doing. It's made me realise I've forgotten about a whole load of stuff that we've done to the car but also made me realise we've got a quite a lot to do before May!:nomouth...
When we got there today the front calipers & carriers were all sandblasted ready for Alex to paint them. We first coated them in red oxide primer to prevent them from rusting avoiding the feed, bleed nipples and slider holes. They've now had a coat of hammerite black but need another one so...
Pressed the new bearings into the hubs today and refitted the alternator to the car after removing it to trim down the bracket.
Then bolted the coilovers and new ball joints, ready to be fitted on the car. Just waiting on the arrival of some new solid top mounts that I've ordered from someone...
Fitted the rear coilovers last night and took off the old shocks and springs, will keep hold of them as they looked pretty much new and can use them as spares or swap them over if we want softer suspension for a particular day.
That picture is crying out for some new brake discs, pads and a...
Not updated for a while as I've been waiting on some thicker wire being delivered to finish wiring up the EPAS. I've finished that now and tested it all today and it works
Whilst we're waiting for the TIG welding to be done on the radiator we've decided it'd be a good time to do some...
Quite a productive day today with the car. Alex and her dad finished off putting things in the switch panel by adding in the ghastly hazard switch and the extinguisher pull cord. One day we'll use the one we bought ages ago and wire it in but for now this one will do.
As I mentioned yesterday...
Handbrake bracket is now welded in the car, I'll grab a picture of it tomorrow when I'm down there again. Picture showing it tack welded in place after being welded up outside the car.
We also spent some of the evening giving the engine bay a wipe down as it's been caked in dust ever since it...
Thankyou very much for the kind words  When I get annoyed with the car and lack of progress sometimes I look back at the very first pictures on the thread and it makes me instantly realise how much of a shed it was and how much work we've put into turning it into something half decent...
Exhaust is all fitted up now with the new mounts.
I finished fabricating the handbrake bracket and Pete tacked it together for me. Just needs to be properly welded and then welded into the car. Quite happy with how it's turned out
Hopefully it'll be welded in tomorrow so we can move...
Decided on the final position for the handbrake last night and begun to work on fabricating the bracket for it. It's going to be a raised box section so that the grab handle on the handbrake sits proud of the dash, meaning it will be out of the way and we won't have to worry about bashing our...
The main bulk of the wiring is complete now. All thats left to finish is the EPAS Wiring, Internal blowers and radiator fan override.
I shall wire the radiator fan override switch in once we've installed the radiator - in the meantime I've ran a wire more than long enough into the engine bay so...
