this is the thread I was looking for. made sense and swapped mine with the thin part under the box http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?528347-Powerflex-Dogbone-Arghhhhhhh!/page3&highlight=powerflex+dog+bone
195/45 r15 are way too small, better do the bumper bracket mod if you'll experience rubbing
for looks I'd like a wheel that fills the arches rather than a low profile tyre look
as in the picture above (thin end under the box) there were some discussions on this and many (me included) had the bush mounted the other way. Looks like there are more vibrations and more strain on the bolt if fitted with the thick part under the box
only on idle, basically inexistent when driving. harsh wise.. anyone has a different scale of things so couldn't tell. All I can say is I'm used to the vibration now (I kinda like it tbh :D ) and the stiffness of the mounts always makes me smile when on full chat
don't know if there is available one for the non sport but you can always pack the bushes inside with some sealant and make them harder if can't find anything else
You can change the engine mounts to standard new ones and get the powerflex dog bone mount- many people do this and it's a popular setup
or
you can get the whole lot (k-tec uprated engine mounts plus powerflex dog bone mount bushes). I did it and I'm happy with how the car feels but if you're...
that surely makes sense, didn't knew that! but if I was having leaks after fitting the NW kit I'd still try it and be careful not to apply in excess and probably to the outer edge area of the gasket. just a thought though
get one without a breather pipe, it's a lot cheaper. then make your own oil catch tank (easy to do) and run the BMC either with a short CAF behind the headlight or without one (just make sure the airbox is as close to the grille as possible in this case)
back when I bought the milltek I thought that alone would give a nice sound, but soon after i wanted a bit more, and now the car sounds about the way I wanted too.. maybe I'll bin the center silencer at some point. Got rid of the CAF yesterday; it sounds better obviously and no power loss I...
I'm thinking of filling mine with some sealant, I'm having the k-tek engine mounts plus poly dogbone so exhaust doesn't really move now. So I'm guessing the brackets Fred was talking about will be fine?
I got the BMC CDA since august and don't regret it at all! doesn't seem to ruin the car and loose power like many say (might actually gain something) and the noise always puts a smile on my face :D
mind you I had an ITG panel before but always wanted that insane growl ...
thx! planning to bin the bonnet sound proof and throw some thin heatshield to protect the paint. will do another movie with no caf although I think the main difference is how it sounds from inside the car. will see though ;)
removed the CAF 30 mins ago and not only it sounds immense :D but it also felt to pick up better, in the setup above the CAF ends in the curved metal plate behind the headlight, which I think added a restriction to the air flow. I'm gonna sort out some panels to direct the air from the grille...
seen the latest pics just now.. not a fan of copying details from other models (even renault ones) but.. that rear bumper really suits the car! dreaming of having the time and possibilities to rebuilt mine like that!
GREAT JOB!
I had this airbox mod about a year ago when I bought the ITG panel, can't say that it improved something as I didn't any RR tests. Wouldn't do any damage so why not? ;)
I also did this mod the other day, cost me 30 quid. I intend to remove the center section in the near future, should cost about the same. I like the way yours sounds! (mine has the milltek too)
mine's smth like this right now:
already ordered the mags, add some 20-30 quid to the 75 and you get the price for shipping the std ones from wests to Romania.. paid around 95 for the magnecors
sealing the plug holes around the leads with hi temp silicone will be ok as preventing moisture from entering? the silicone will peel away if needed so is this wise? wanna do this when the magnecor reds will arrive
