No further progress but a couple of pictures. I've driven it over to Wales for the first time to help with the clear out of our static caravan. Having no back seats will do us a massive favour.
It's just a shame that I'm not going to get a chance to have a good drive on the Welsh roads in it...
Spot on! Thank you @MarcR™ and for everyone that tagged @MarcR™ into the thread! :)
That certainly explains that then and why we're all missing the same ones :tongueclosed::smile:
A bump stop sounds good to me, I've never heard the term before though. There's a few other manufacturers that come up on that search, but nothing for a MK2 clio.
I haven't done. I thought it'd be easier to explain on here with a photo than phone up and ask for some random rubber things from the boot.
If loads of people are missing some out of theirs I don't think I'll bother. It can't be doing any real harm without them really.
I have to agree with @optical on this one. I too have had those F1's and they were atrocious in the snow, really bad.
You can't beat winter tyres when the temperature starts to drop. It's quite impressive to see the difference when the conditions worsen, although you should try driving on them...
I've got the car back now but after suffering a bout of the man flu I've been unable to get back out in it properly to see if anything has improved with the ball joint replacement. Overall the garage say the car's pretty good mechanically so I'm quite happy now it's had a second set of eye over...
Damn, I need one doing as well but Portsmouth is at the opposite end of the country. Is there anyone else further up North you could recommend?
Sorry to thread hijack @dynodan
It's a rubber that fits into holes in the inside of the boot. I've only got one left in place so want to fill up all of the open gaps. I've got no idea what to search for though as they're not coming up on anything I've seen.
Does anyone have a name or part number please? Or even better a link...
I booked the car in for it's MOT a couple of months early as the more I drive the car the worse it feels. Steering was very sloppy and unpredictable. I thought getting a garage to do the MOT at this stage would give me a long list of things to work though and get sorted.
Well, it failed but no...
I use Y-Cam as well. Very impressive products with minimal set up. Off site back up of your clips and access anywhere you've got an Internet connection.
Lmao, that sounds like it could work. How much would you be looking at? PM me if you prefer please? How new are the cup dampers?
I've booked the car in for an early MOT on Saturday (2 months early!) just so I can get a proper list of things that need replacing, so I think I'll want to replace...
Thanks bloke, that does sound like it could be a plan. I've got H&R springs on the Evo (and although they've caused the dampers to knock) and they seem to have improved the handling slightly.
Is it worth doing anything with the top mounts? Swapping to fresh Renault parts?
That's what I've been thinking to be honest. You always (well, nearly always) get what you pay for so I guess cheap coilovers will just end up being a bit crap. It's something that I can invest in over time as well.
Where did you order your parts from Karlos?
Also, if OEM is the way to go, where's the best place to buy Cup shocks and springs as well as everything else that may be needed please?
Or would cup shocks go better with some Cooksport springs?
Another common suspension question I'm afraid, but I know you all like to help a fellow member in need
My car's going to need a full suspension refresh as it's not really handing as well as it should be. The rear feels a little loose and the steering doesn't seem to be as accurate as I...
What's the best way of removing the rubbers and putting them back in? Just a plastic trim removal tool?
I was just going to cut around the rubber originally
Thanks @Midnight
I plan on getting a cage at some point so will cut out parts of the carpet that need it when necessary and use a proper harness bar. I'm not sure what I'll do short term though, that'll definitely need more research.
Thanks @Midnight , it does make a massive difference.
The mats were around £93 all in (boot mat, fronts and postage). I'm pretty sure you can get the boot mat alone for around £50 from Ambassador Car Mats. They're really good quality too.
So now I need to make sure I have the correct resistors to fit the steering wheel, and then find a guide on what to buy for the front seats. Hopefully it's easy enough to swap the front seats without the airbag light coming on?
Then it was time for a very quick clean and some more exterior photos. It really needs a bloody good polish and wax, but we ended up running out of time yesterday.
After that it was changing the perished exhaust hanger. The bolts had various soakings of WD40 which helped massively.

The tips are still hanging very slightly to the right but I can live with it. It looks like one of those battles that every 182 owner has!
