Then it was onto putting the boot mat in. The fit was perfect!
It was well worth the money and certainly makes a stripped interior a bit easier on the eye for normal road use. The matching front mats looked spot on as well:
I then put the rear strut brace in.
After starting off with a brew we started to remove the rear seats in the car. The isofix bar came out reasonable well with a long bar and some elbow grease. The bots weren't as corroded as I feared that they would be.
I did have a problem with the damn torx bolt though. It was a real PITA...
I've finally had a day with some decent weather over the weekend so managed to do a bit more. It was actually a decent day yesterday with very little swearing!
I'll start with a few parts and tools that have turned up. I got a new spanner set and a flare spanner from my brother for my birthday...
@JamesBryan got it spot on. I'll just go for a big bar and see how I get on.
I've not done it yet though @Chris_Beer , the weather put pay to that as it was a total wash out for most of the day. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow although I've got a few other bits and pieces to do. I really...
I'm planning on removing the rear seats this weekend (hopefully Saturday if the weather is kind) and I've read that some of the bolts that hold the seats in run through the floor of the car and corrode on the outside.
Does anyone have a quick photo by chance of where the bolts are located...
The car looks good
My bumper was cable tied in at the top when I bought it. I just replaced the clips with some of these from eBay

I went and collected the tow eye that I bought from @cs_dave and fitted it during the rain. I know that people don't like the tow decal, but at least it'll serve a purpose (although hopefully never needed!).
The street racer tow eyes are certainly good quality
I was going to take the interior out today but the rain has put pay to that, so you'll have to wait a little longer for photos I'm afraid :tongueout:
The mats were a bargain from Ambassador, who made a set up for me for £93.49 (including postage) with the RenaultSport logos. They arrived within...
If you've not been on a track before then tuition is well worth the money.
Exhausts are always something I go for changing first as you get a noticeable change for your money. New wheels are always on my list too.
I do keep forgetting to have a look at that. I'm not sure the filter will fit behind the battery as it looks a lot bigger than OEM, I'll try and measure it this weekend. I may relocate the battery in the end but it would certainly be better to get the filter out to a 'cooler' area.
Thanks for all of the comments guys, I do think the car looks a lot better from when I first got it. Hopefully there will be a good few changes yet. I've really enjoyed buying and playing with a few bits and pieces as well as reading everything on the club.
I'm hoping to do a lot more reading of...
A few more parts have come recently but progress has been slow with a few bits and pieces going on at home. I've had front and rear OMP strut braces (I know people say they don't do a lot, but I think they look ace) and a full set of mats.
I did get to have a good drive out this morning as...
Hi all, just after a bit of advice really as I'm looking to see if people have successfully mounted 2 OMP TR-S XL seats in the front of a Mk2?
I guess there's enough room to fit both a drivers and passengers XL seat together? I've seen people selling two on here but not installed in a car. I'm...
Are the Nero's good as track day tyres out of interest? I've got nearly new Nero's on mine but never really considered them to be a track tyre.
I can't help with a comparison though sorry.
Cool, I might have to go down that route in future. I'll have a look at the threads you suggested to see if I can find a temporary cheap quick fix.
I've resized all of the photos too as they were taking forever to load, it was like the old days of a dial up modem. Hopefully everything should load better from now on. :)
Spot on Mark thanks. I'm relieved you think I could be along the right lines with oil spillage. I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed that it is that!
The battery re-location looks great on yours. I guess you relocated it to the boot? Does mine have a bigger battery than standard as I...
Thank you to everyone that's read the thread so far, there were quite a few pictures! I didn't realise how big they'd come out so I hope they do load ok for everyone.
If anyone has any helpful tips or advise please let me know.
Is there anything to be worried about with so much oil...
