Car went in this week to have the manifold swapped out:
New and old:
Evidence of a previous repair:
It's better, but I do wonder if there is a bit of a blow from the join. Sounds a bit odd with the windows down. Will see how it goes for now. The guy at the garage said to just pop back...
Had the rear wheels balanced today:
Had the fronts done a couple of weeks ago as, ever since I fitted the Speedlines, there was a bad vibration through the steering. The fronts were 50g and 20g out and, while having them balanced improved it a lot, I could still feel some vibration through...
Welcome aboard!
I wouldn't go too mad as it's your first car, but a set of wheels and a subtle suspension drop would do wonders for it.
You could always fit the seats and door trims from a 172/182 as well, just to make the interior a bit sportier.
I wouldn't worry about miles anymore, unless you want a real collector's item. They're all 15-20 years old now, so low mileage cars aren't going to common now.
It's all about condition.
I think there are probably too many unknowns there to definitively blame the venue. I would put that down to coincidence. With the used pumps, you simply don't know their history in terms of fluid changes, whether they've been run low on fluid, or whether they have been used on track.
I would...
What I'm trying to get at is that, by knowing the cause, it's easier to identify the workaround. Fitting a different pump may not be the solution.
Do they have cooling as standard? I would assume it's the fluid overheating and causing wear to the pump, so it may be enough to fit a new OEM pump...
I know this is probably sacrilege, but I'm not really a fan of Monaco for some reason, even though I usually like dark blues.
Really like this though, all works together really nicely.
There are faster and more extreme examples once you get into the track/race/rally cars for sure but, in road car terms, this is the one for me. Wheels, colour, ride height, spoiler, it's all spot on.
Nice that. The MK7 Golf is such a great all-rounder. A real high point. The MK8 looks awful by comparison. I think I would have a GTI over an R if I went back. Weirdly, I think the GTI looks better as a 3dr, but the R has to be a 5dr. It's obviously something in the side skirts or something, but...
