It amazes me how these places can make any money from breaking that car, I assume they've had to pay X amount for it and yes the engine and box are probably still intact/usable but, for the amount of time and effort removing any other bits other, I just can't see the money in it! Is it just me?
I went to view this car last time it was listed on eBay, it has a crack in the turbo manifold and has been welded, the weld was fairly large TBH and goes all the the way across the top and inside edge.
It had very clean bodywork when I saw it and the interior is also very good, I probably would...
Lovely looking car, been looking at these myself. It's madness the high insurance cost of the Clio compared to other metal out there hence, breaking mine and looking at something new. Very nice mate, enjoy.
I had this dilema last year, being 6ft 6'' I was also concerned about driving position. I currently run Cobra xlow subframes and a pair a Bimarco bucket seats which, improves driving position greatly(your closer to the floor so, knees further from the wheel and I can adjust the seat further back...
The look on the his face had, the blue gsi dabbed his brakes would have been priceless! I'm all for a little race off the lights(within reason) or some dual carriage way action BUT, 140mph is f00king mental... Only takes a blow out or wildlife to run out and your brown bread and IMO the VXR...
Langley is 2mins up the road from me, might pop down and see it just for the hell of it.:p
It wouldn't be too bad if, you like that sort of thing but the pea shooter exhausts are poor and I can't help imagine that its very dissapointing when, people come over excited thinking you have a ferrari...
Make sure you follow up on your injuries mate, insurance company should offer to sort some physio and/or a doctor to clarify your injuries. Nothing worse than finding you've got back or neck problems later on down the line when its too late!
And as said above, main thing is you're ok really...
If it was mine, I'd have the rear a litte higher. Maybe a few mm or so, hard to tell from the pics. But I like the height on the front, just need to get them wheels refurbed mate.
I'd contact the council, in writing with pics and a written quotation from the bodyshop. To be honest, they'll probably be greatful you're only claiming for the bodywork damage and not compensation for any physical injuries you may or may not have recieved(whiplash, etc);)
I'm considering writing this whole shaft off and just seeing if I can buy a completely new unit, shaft, cv joints n all!!
Surely splitting the Cv joint from the shaft is the only way to fit a new outer CV boot??
I see your point mate, but the previous stretchy CV boot had only just been fitted at the dealers I bought the car from and lasted less than 500 miles!
Day to day driving conditions were fine, but under hard cornering(very different from drag strip conditions) this boot pinched on something and...
It was one of those crappy stretchy rubber ones that split, after just TWO laps at Castle combe!!
One mans idea of easier is anothers inferior, but thanks anyway:rasp:
Cracking body... And if my wife sees this, I'm talking about the Trophy;) Good on ya fella, always nice when things start looking up, after crappy times.
Yes, I've had the shaft out twice now!! the circlip wasn't in the best cond' an slightly wonky, so I straightened it out and popped it back on. Each time I've had the shaft/CV apart, the clip's been on the shaft in the groove as it should be, but from your comment I gather it would possibly be...
Hi,
Can anyone shed any light as to why my Driveshaft keeps popping out from the CV joint? I basically split the N/S OUTER CV boot and have replaced the boot with one from GSF(very rigid plastic, unlike the rubbery original one!).
But having now fitted this, my driveshaft keeps coming out of the...
I attended yesterday and had an awesome day. Shame I didnt go with Cliosport, but had already booked my tickets directly before seeing this thread. Really Really enjoyed getting out on the track for the first time and had a few good battles. Will def try and make a Cliosport meet/event in the...
Cheers mate, I'll look into swapping the sides around. I did check on here and do some searches before fitting it, but there are so many conflicting suggestions as to which way up it goes:dead:
Yeah thats pretty much it, flattened back with the 1500 and plenty of soapy water, then I used meguiars ultimate compound with a buffing pad and backing plate on a drill, i then added a coat of wax after.... Its a bit of a crude method, but it worked:)
Thanks for the positive comments people, Cliosport has been a massive source of inspiration and technical help via the good old search button;)
I should hopefully be getting my hands on a Cup splitter soon:cool:
Cheers, it kind of consumed me for a while... Now its at this point I'll ease off and just enjoy, plus the wifes getting p1ssed with me working on it all weekend, every weekend.
Here's my black ph2 172, I bought this after a brief stint as a GSXR owner(really wasn't for me), I spent a while looking for a half decent Clio within budget and eventually found this down Portsmouth way.
One owner from new, full dealer service history and old MOT's. It does have its issues...
Wasn't sure I'd like the look of this(orange, blue, black), but its come together really nicely and really works. Bet it will look even better with the speedlines. That vids got me all inspired and wanting to some track time. Excellent work guys.
I'm liking the wheel colour, wish I was brave enough to refurb my wheels in such a bold colour. Not 100% about the white bits, but as long as you like it i suppose thats what matters. I'd opt for coilovers, you'd probably get away with chepo ones, as it sounds like you're only looking for lows?
