You say it seemed like brakes were on. Have you checked to see if a caliper is sticking? Take it for a drive then feel each wheel if 1 is noticeably warmer than others chances are you have a sticky caliper. Do not touch the brake discs though lol.
You could do it yourself if you really wanted to. Fill with wheel putty then reshape and sand it smooth, respray. Would take a while to get right though, prob best off letting a pro handle it. Although i must admitt if it was mine id be having a crack myself but i like to do everything myself if...
i wouldn't worry to much about slight buckles, they can be balanced out. Just make sure you put them on the rear and i doubt you'll notice! You'd be suprised how many people have buckled wheels without even knowing(mate works in a tyre and exhaust place)
They pull ok in 5th compared to your average day to day car. Not trying to diss on clios after all I've owned 3 172's amd still drive one to this day but they are far from torquey there just a light car with moderate power.
Don't get me wrong he will certainly notice the difference. But it's not all about power, I have a 350bhp nova and a lightly modified cup. However I still enjoy driving the cup! All depends on the situation, however that been said.... boost for the win!
Rev more freely with a decat and slightly more responsive plus decat rasp sounds alot nicer imo. As said it might gain a little mid range torque with a cat but if it's torque your after buy a different car lol.
I wouldn't personally bother tbh in less you want some induction roar, the heatsoak will cost you performance although don't suppose it will make much difference on a 1200
I'd try lambda sensors next, especially since its free. Just swap the front one with the rear. The rear one has no role in engine management it only senses if the cat is operating correctly.
Lol yeah I think you might bud. Also since you don't need to reuse the track rod, if you want you can bypass the wood and nut and bash the track rod directly with the hammer as it won't matter if you knacker the threads. When reusing always use nut and wood.
Shouldn't be doing that. Check your under seat connections give them a little wiggle or push together but don't unplug them! Or you might be seeing the dash lights permanently.
Just wind the nut onto the end a bit grab some wood and a hammer, hold the wood against the nut and bash the crap out of it till it jolts loose then remove nut and pop the rod out. Never fails, been doing it that way for last 10 years.
Cat change on a 172 mani is horrible. If he doesn't get a cat to fit the 182 manifold he will need to change the mani to be able to have a cat in place come mot time.
It's worth bearing in mind that in less you modify the cat, fit a sports cat or have a friendly mot guy you will have a absolute mother ****er of a job once a year. Swapping between mani's and fitting and removing 172 cat ain't fun lol.
Civic ones look crap, the base overhangs the aerial mount. You can just chop off spiral bit on the standard aerial then use black permanent marker or similar to cover the bare metal. They still work fine after a trim.
Just work on the handling and weight. Get some lightweight 15" wheels best handling mod you can do imo. Whiteline arb will also help alot. Powerwise unless you got deep pockets not much you can do tbh. Cams are gonna cost you close to 2k fitted and mapped.
I just did a set the other day for about £55.
Sandblasted then sanded the wheels
Then I filled the scuffs and marks with wheel putty then sanded them smooth(forgot to take pics of this stage but it really easy to do)
Primed inside and out of wheel 3 coats using a acidic based hi...
