Yeah I hate to say it but they won't stop for a CCTV camera mate, sorry. One thing that will stop them off the top of my head is a F*cking big dog! Which I'm now thinking of getting possibly, what do you think @DaveDreads
I've got "back to invoice", have gone through the policy and it just states I'll be covered for whatever is outstanding. The chap from GAP providers said I'll be covered for what ever the gap is between insurance payout and remaining owed. Have a feeling he was treating it like a PCP policy...
Well Listers VW (where the lease was from) seem to think not... I wont know for sure until the vehicle is classified a total loss after my engineers report call (due for tomorrow) is completed. Listers think the GAP will just cover everything to ensure i dont have to pay anything out. Just a...
Unfortunately it looks like we are set to receive quite a heavy financial loss. Insurance for car only covers up to £250 for personal belongings, and house insurance £1000. Excess on car policy is £600 for some absurd reason?? and house policy is £150. So £750 just in excess. My GAP policy will...
Yeah will need to wait and see what happens.
The police are saying its been stolen to order and is most likely in a lock up somewhere being stripped for parts, or in a container to be used at a later date for whatever. I'm amazed you cant track new cars these days.
Cheers mate,
yeah thats what i understand. I was just intrigued to know whether i will get my deposit back so that i can use it towards getting another lease. It looks like that might not be the case, but either way, when taking the policy out i made sure i got the maximum cover possible...
Ive taken the day off today to sort out all my insurances as the offices were only open to take info for claims, then get it all set up today. I've just spoken to my GAP provider and they said ive got a "return to invoice" policy, how does that work on a lease agreement? @Sir_Dave would you...
Thanks Phil, yeah im absolutely gutted that i'll never be able to own a hot hatch again like that from living in fear of facing that again. As said in our PM's the i3 i think is looking viable at the moment if the lease deal comes up trumps... i'll then look to buy something for the weekends and...
Yeah its been the thing thats bothered us the most "what if". Thanks for the kind words lads.
Yeah, seriously be so careful! don't be paranoid, just be aware at all times is my advice !
No mate, I was loading the car up for me, my fiancée and 15 week old daughter to go n stay at her parents, when 3 hooded and masked blokes jumped out of a car (one with a gun) and launched me into the boot shouting for the keys. I gave them the keys and they let me go, then took the car...
My golf was unfortunately stolen on Friday night, so may aswell close this thread down.
For those that own golf R's, I don't want to scare you but please please please be extremely vigilant in your ownership!!
I had a 10 plate tourer, not sure what that would make it, but didnt like the gear box one bit on it. Drove a 1 series then as a courtesy car and felt the exact same about the gear box in that.
You've nailed it there... I would much rather something sensible for the commute and then a weekend...
Yeah think they are quite a bit quicker due to more power and less transmission losses. I've never really liked BMW's after owning a 3 series myself. Is the auto box quite responsive on them? The golf's really isnt, i think someone else mentioned it in a thread on here too... there's a lot of...
I think its just the involvement of having a clutch pedal and gear stick to control rather than flicking your fingers to change gear. As said previously, i drove my fiance's A1 for a day or two and it was great. What BMW have you got ?
Yeah a 4WD golf will always be boring agreed.
Yep estates were all DSG. I wouldnt have chosen a manual even if they were available as on my test drive i was really impressed with it. I've never owned an auto and swore i never would. However, for a car to commute in, i now think its the way forward, but for fun it really isnt !
I think i...
10k done now in the Golf, so thought id update my thoughts/experience to date.
Few things really starting to annoy me about it....
- When pulling out of junctions at roundabouts etc it hesitates way too much, even in S mode. Almost a big dangerous at times.
- When changing down using...
Lovely result mate, and please to see you having some good luck for once!!
Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it on track and some photo's/video's of said track day! What do these things weigh ? 320bhp sounds like a right laugh!
Has anyone been in or driven a Forester STI? it was on my shopping list along when i got the Golf... tbh its one of those cars i just want to own, may look again when the lease is up!
Ever thought about doing an MLR Sprint?
I used to go to watch a lot of them, but never had the balls to do a sprint in mine as i was earning peanuts at the time and wouldnt have been able to repair any major damage like a rod letting go, and it was my daily.
I dont remember the name of the chap i bought it from, pretty sure his name was Robin? but i px'd it when i got rid to a garage, so no idea who bought it. Would love to see where it is now and how its doing !
